This was one of the PSF goodies in my recent EDS order. I'd been wanting to try a full-on HA product for some time, as I have very dry skin.

Normally, I prefer to wait a while before giving my verdict on skincare items, but this one had an effect on me almost immediately.

It seemed to make my moisturiser and other products sink in much more quickly than normal, but leaving my skin feeling moisturised and plump. In fact, I did the "hydration test", where you push your fingers up into the skin on your face to see if any little lines appear around the pores (sorry, it's hard to describe the effect), and my face looked perfectly hydrated - for once!

All of this plumping also made my skin feel firmer. Something I hadn't counted on, but which makes perfect sense.

Because I have such horribly dry skin on my hands, I decided to try it on top of my Penzim and Kiehls Intensive Treatment that I leave on overnight whilst wearing cotton gloves. When I took off the gloves next morning, my hands looked plumper than usual and this seemed to last longer than normal, too.

Even after just a few days of use, I've decided that this is a must-have product for me. I'll definitely be buying more!

The above post is a review of the following product available at EDS:
PSF Pure Skin Formulations HA Serum (30 ml / 1 floz)
PSF Pure Skin Formulations HA Serum (30 ml / 1 floz)

Hyaluronic acid is one of the most biologically complex and nourishing molecules for the skin. It is found naturally in young skin, and decreases subsequently with age. It is responsible for retaining moisture within the skin, contributes to plumpness, softness, and firmness of skin tone.

Majorb, this is one of my favorites, too! I had the same positive experience you did...plumper, more hydrated skin almost instantaneously (and without any heavy/greasy feeling!).

Kudos to PSF for this product!

Hey Liz!

When I started using this product, I assumed it would go under moisturizer or other heavier treatments like serums usually do. However, I was advised to use it over the the PSF Herbal Sunscreen, which is the last thing I was applying in my daytime lineup. This didn't make sense to me, so I asked for further clarification...and as usual, the PSF customer service people came through! Here's how they explained it to me:

"Thank you for your question. Normally water-based serums do go underneath a lotion or cream if they contain active ingredients. This assists in penetration of the active. But our HA Serum does not contain any actives (antioxidants, etc.). It is for moisturization purposes mostly. So applying it over the Sunscren helps create a mositure barrier to help keep the moisture in. In addition, the sunscreen can then be applied to a clean face, which enhances the absorbtion of the photshielding ingredients."

Hope this helps!

Can you compare it to other moisturizers based on HA, like Cellex-C hydra B5 or Skinceutical B5?

And also I was wondering if using PSF Perfecting Day Lotion would be enough to hydrate my skin (it has HA in it, probably not much). I wonder if I should use a HA only product to finish...

Syr - I have pretty dry skin and loved the PSF Perfecting Day Lotion. It's really nice and moisturising. You'd probably be fine with that, but the HA Serum just adds an extra boost and oomph to the moisturisation process.

If you're not sure, maybe try the Perfecting Day Lotion on its own first, then order the HA Serum if you feel you need it as a supplementary measure.

However, if you fancy more of a plumping effect, then you might want to add the HA Serum anyway.

I think I'm going to get the PSF HA serum. I'm a little confused on the proper application. I though HA serums are supposed to go on under the moisturizer, but it looks like this one goes over it?

I'm wondering the same thing - do I put the PSF HA serum over or under the PSF Perfecting Day Lotion which is my moisturizer?

Thanks!

I really like the PSF HA serum. In my opinion, it should be used under the moisturizer.

If I'm using a vit C serum that feels drying, I wait for 15 min, then use HA serum, and then moisturizer.

The HA serum is also brilliant to mix with emu oil or rose hip oil to make the oil sink right into the skin.

Mine just arrived in the post today (along with other goodies!) - can't wait to try it.
If HA didn't work injected into my skin, maybe I will haver more luck with it topically - certainly a lot cheaper! Bad Grin

I love PSF's HA serum. It really helps your moisturizing products to work better. I use it by adding a drop or two to the palm of my hand, then add a moisturizer or oil. Mix and apply.

Thanks! It's weird that the official PSF instructions are to use it over the moisturizer, which seems counter intuitive to me.

Also, you can try HA tablets! I think a lot of members were or are doing that for lip plumpness. Wow, there's so many different uses for HA!

Oh, that's a good idea, mixing it with a moisturizer, normally I put it underneath my mositurizer.

Hi everyone, I have started using the HA serum about a month ago. I haven't used one previously so can't compare to any other brand..the only thing I have noticed is that it seems cheaper Smile
Anyway I use it once or twice a day either mixed with my moisturiser or under (although I have just read it's supposed to go on the top of the moisturiser/sunscreen). The only obvious effect I can share is that my skin was peeling on some places and that's now gone so I think the skin is more hydrated and I wouldn't dare to skip this step in my routine now out of fear that my skin will go back to it's irritated/dehydrated and oily self.

I really like this product and will rebuy.

It is really good for dry eye area in the winter as all my other creams do not seem to work as well.

I took a look and noticed its made with sodium hyaluronate...that's the ha made in a lab from bacterial fermentation. The one I like, Neocell ha, is all natural and uses liposome tech to take the serum into the deeper skin levels, plus its time release.

I haven't tried the PSF, so can't compare from experience. I have read that natural ha produces twice the synovial fluid for knees, when taken by capsule.

I've never tried the Neocell myself, so I can't really compare, but I googled the Neocell serum ingredients & it is full of fillers & parabens. It doesn't seem very natural to me. What I like about the PSF HA Serum is that it is pure hyaluronic acid with a paraben-free preservative. I actually prefer that the PSF one is lab created & not extracted from rooster combs. That kind of makes me queasy...LOL

I don't use emu oil for that very reason. There's just something weird to me about putting animal products on my face. I do eat meat though, so I don't have a moral aversion to it. I just prefer to use plant based products I guess. Just my personal preference I guess, but to each their own Smile
