I am 50 with very reactive skin.

I have had the V-Beam laser treatment about five times and am currently under the care of a dermatologist.

My routine is as follows:

AM and PM
Cleanse with La Mer Cleansing Lotion;
Tone with La Mer Mist;
Metrogel;

AM
Moisturize with Creme de la Mer
Sunscreen

PM
La Mer The Concentrate
Moisturize with Creme de la Mer

At times, my skin looks great. At other times, it is very reactive.

I have used Creme de la Mer for 10 years. I have strayed a few times in the last two years.

The reason I have strayed is that while I look younger than fifty (probably genetics), my skin can at times be very reactive. I am searching for a product that makes my skin feel soft, plumped, comfortable, almost wrinkle-free like the La Mer does , but, also alleviates the redness.

I cannot exfoliate or use AHA, etc.

I have tried Finacea (did not work).

I cannot use Active products or anti-aging products.

I have used Sisley ~ seems to make the redness better, but, leaves my skin feeling dry (not moisturized enough). I used the Sisley Daily Line Reducer + the Sisley Restorative Facial Cream + the Sisley Botanical Facial Sun Cream. And, Sisley seems to make my wrinkles appear worse.

I have a mega - credit at Neiman Marcus and for that reason would like to get something from NM.

I am intrigued with ReVive which has a Creme Intensite that states that it helps rosacea and spider veins.

But, I am a little concerned as I had a basal cell carcinoma on my nose that my dermatologist treated wih Aldara. I am currently doing a follow-up with Aldara (three times a week for 16 weeks). Aldara is a prescription cream approved by the FDA for the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis.

With my history of skin cancer on my face ~ are EGF and IGF (growth factors) safe for me?
Paula Begoun thinks "no" in her book. The ReVive people, who I called, say it is perfectly safe.

Finally, to my question ~

Should I stick with La Mer which makes my skin feel great and my skin looks almost wrinkle-free, BUT, La Mer does nothing for the redness and may make the redness worse?

Should I try ReVive (I did order samples)?

Is my HG out there ~ it will make my skin feel and look like La Mer, but, make my redness disappear or make it look much less red?

My dermatologist suggested some Glycolic Acid products which made my skin uber smooth and soft, but, eventually made my skin more reactive than ever!!! These were a cleanser and a mask.

Help!!!

Hi Charmed, I just read your other post.

If you have rosacea and it sounds like you do, there is NO WAY that you should use any product with glycolic acid in it. If your dermatologist recommended that, then it sounds like he/she has been influenced by advertising. You'll need to be your own best doctor.

I would love to know how you would do if you tried for a period of 3 months, replacing your La mer creams with a mixture of hyaluronic acid and emu oil. This will plump your skin, and is very anti-inflammatory. It helps me SO much when my skin is being reactive (I have mild rosacea). I suspect that you would see improvement and this may become your new "HG."

Another product that heals skin is CP serum. You would use it before the HA/emu oil mixture. Just be careful with the CP's around the eye area.

As I said in my other reponse (the other thread about sensitive skin), I know someone who completely healed her roscea using Exfol, CP serum, and emu oil from Skinbiology.com. (We found an emu oil we like better though, which is Ultra emu from LBPRocessors.com). LB Processors has a nice eye cream too, with emu oil.

I really hope you try these products because they have helped me a lot, and others I know.

P.S. I've tried Re Vive, and they're overpriced and they irritated my rosacea. All of their "renewal" products have glycolic in them. I've tried the sensitif cream as well...emu + hyaluronic acid is just SO much better! Smile Much cheaper, too.

Sources for hyaluronic acid are dianayvonne.com, skincarecentral.biz (good sunscreens here too), and PSF.com (sold on EDS).

Thank you PocoLoco ~ I will look into this. With rosacea, I agree, sometimes simpler is better! Yes, I have rosacea ~ and at the moment it is very reactive.
What is CP serum?

It is copper peptide serum. The copper helps heal skin and cause it to produce healthy new skin cells. You can find it atwww.dianayvonne.com orwww.skinbiology.com

I am using re vive moisturing renewal cream and eye cream. frankly to speak, I got slight irritation... now I have to use EA good night sleep night cream before I apply re vive and actually stop using the eye cream.

Thank you PocoLoco and itisme ~ I will avoid the ReVive, my skin is very reactive right now and does not need any added excitement. Rolling Eyes

My local health food store has hyaluronic serum by Mychelle, I plan to see if they have emu oil and will get started on those two, until I can get an order in. I really need to calm down the redness ~ I think the prescription Aldara Cream is causing issues, BUT, I really don't want another skin cancer on my face.

itisme ~ I think I mentioned in another thread that La Mer (the original creme) (but who knows what I mentioned, I am fifty; lol) is very soothing around the eye area (NOT, the eye cream, which irritated my eye area). I just think in my case that La Mer feels great, but, is adding to the redness and reactivity of my skin.

Thank you both for your replies. I once had beautiful skin, (of course at the time, I could find all the flaws!!!) but, as I have gotten older, it has become increasingly more reactive. Of course, the whole treatment for pre-cancers is not helping right now. It just needs some simplicity and calmness.
