MermaidGirl - That's a great idea. When they get the ice scraped off of the roads here, I'll have to get out and pick one up.

I just set up my FIR sauna last night & did a 30 minute session at level 5. It did not seem to get as warm as it seems to have gotten for you ladies. I am definitely not sweating enough to use a towel to wipe up puddles. In fact, I don't need to wipe up any sweat from the floor at all. I remember going into a dry sauna at the gym & sweating profusely. I purchased the cheaper model on eBay. Did anyone else purchase the FIR sauna from ebay? If so, how "hot" does your unit get? I really hope I didn't get a vastly inferior product by ordering from ebay instead of going with Scalawagirl's distributor.

Hi leidon~

Well, I got the same one from ebay, and have used it three times. I thought it would get hotter, too! I'm thinking of trying 2 30 min sessions in a row. I barely break a sweat!

Sometimes I wonder if the chair is blocking some of the FIRs, and might try a stool with no back instead.

Of corse, compared to my bikram yoga classes I started up lately, the FIR doesnt even compare sweat-wise Razz

I'm gonna give it a longer shot and see what happens, I hope we weren't duped Confused

Bella

I bought the sauna from ebay. It takes me about 15 minutes at level 5 to start to break a sweat. But when I finally do, man do I sweat! I keep cranking up the timer, so I actually stay in the unit for about 40 minutes or so. I am wondering if maybe some of the problems I am having are because its pretty cold in the house right now. It would probably be super effective if used after a short workout when you are already hot.

I just found this on a webpage selling a similar product:

"Note: Many people with heavy metal, chemical or pesticide toxicity levels may find it difficult to sweat initially; for some individuals it may require 5-10 sessions before measurable sweat volume is evident, but continuous water intake will enhance detoxification. Even without measurable sweat, the infrared sauna is helping to eliminate toxins through urine, bowels and hair."

So lets see if our sweating gets easier over time! Im glad to see that Im getting benefits even in the 15 min Im not sweating.

The website is http://www.doctorajadams.com/SaunaDomeInfrared.html which has some interesting information about FIR.

has anyone heard about Oligo cellulite cream. You don't have to rub it in, just apply it and they say you will notice you will have to urinate more and your urine will be darker which is a sign you are ridding your body of the toxic elements. i discovered it on Face.com

when i first started reading this thread i thought why would anyone want a sauna as I had a steam shower installed in my bathroom, but after reading all the positive threads on its detoxing benefits, I MUST HAVE one...

Hi Bella. I did two 30 minute sessions at level 5 & on the second session I definitely get the sweat that I was hoping for in a single session. I set mine up in front of the tv, so as long as I'm watching a one hour program, it's not that big of an issue. I think I'll take anixia's advice & not worry about the sweating issue until my 10th session. Although, since you do bikram yoga, you probably don't have as high a level of toxicity as I probably do, so I wonder if the theory anixia spoke of isn't a valid explanation for the lack of sweat in your case? Well, if it doesn't improve I think we should definitely contact the seller, especially since he made some pretty hefty claims in his product description re. the "competitors" model.

Can anyone using Scalawagirl's model comment on how hot your FIR sauna is getting?

Hi Anixia. Thanks for the info. Well, I probably do have a high toxicity level b/c my diet is poor & I don't drink enough water. So, that could be the issue. I've only done 3 sessions, so I'll wait until at least my 10th before worrying about how much I sweat. I think that it just concerned me b/c I was equating sweat loss with toxin removal. It's good to know that even w/o sweating, the FIR unit is eliminating toxins. I'll report back after my 10th session.

Hi All!

Well, I'm a newbie here, and I have to say....thanks alot Rolling Eyes I have now purchased the sauna, the hylauranic supplements, and the L2K..... Laughing

Anyway, I have used my sauna now 3 times and I did not hardly break a sweat until the third time which was last night, and I mean sweat!! I warm it up for a good 10-15 min, then get in for 40-50 min, I have it set at 5. From different info I've been reading, it has been suggested to take a shower BEFORE you get into sauna to produce more rapid sweat. Also a few crunches or lunges and pushups before getting in wouldn't hurt also.

Observation: There is no other way to say this other than....I've been peeing like a racehorse! Shock Yesterday, I went three times in one hour and I didn't even have any water yet! Something is definately happening. Also I have a scale that measures body fat and water hydration, and my body fat has steadily decreased in these three sessions! I don't eat meat and have a pretty good diet but haven't changed anything in my diet during these last three sessions. I am planning on doing my sauna sessions every other day for now.

I have a friend with Lyme Disease and Far Infared has totally helped her with her symptoms! It really is great.

Thanks for all the great reviews and suggestions...I have been lurking for quite a while!! Wink

I think if you want the sauna really hot, it pays to warm it up for a while before you get in. I know in my house, if I'm the third person in a row having a sauna I drip with sweat, if I'm the first, I 'glow".

Thanks leidon, anixia and konabean for the advice, I feel better now Very Happy

I think I need to warm it up more before I get in, and stay in longer. (An hour sounds great leidon!) And I am not close to session 10 yet.

I will try again with renewed enthusiasm!

Bella

Very Happy Glowing's good, too! How long do you like to warm it up first, five minutes? Or a good 30?

Thanks!

Basically, the longer it's on, the hotter it gets.. I turn it on before I go off to get undressed and put my hair up and put music on and get a glass of water etc etc, then when I get in it's all lovely, already.

BTW about the Clarins body shaping cream.. I remeber using it after I'd given birth, both times, and being REALLY pleased with it.
A while ago now..

I am considering (strongly) on purchasing a sauna. I have a lot of toxins because I struggle with regularity which has affected my skin all over. My face breaks out and I have gone from having zero cellulite to being covered with it on my things and buttocks just within a year...and there is no doubt it is from toxins.

Doctors will tell you there is no way to get rid of it, but I have seen it go away when I am cleansing with fasting/colonics. And I have seen before/after pics my holistic nurse has up where she helped other eradicate their cellulite by liver/colon cleansing. No doubt, sauna therapy would just further help. So, IMO, most doctors are full of #@$%

Pretty much all my questions have been answered, but I am concerned about cleaning this type of sauna...it seems like it would be a pain...

Thanks!!

For those who bought off of ebay - I checked this sellers reviews thoroughly and found where one person tested the temp in their sauna and it leveled out at 110 degrees (F). The I-spa is supposed to reach 147 which is why it may be taking you longer to break a sweat in the other. I wasn't a big fan of this ebay seller since I didn't really see much on their certifications. The I-spa has about every certification there is so you may want to consider that if you decide to return your spa.

From the first time I used my I-spa at level 4 I broke out in a huge sweat, which is why I'm now even more sceptical of the ebay unit. Of course when I say ebay unit I mean the non-I-spa one. I purchased my I-spa off of ebay and am very satisfied. I hope this helps!

I'm not sure how hot my ebay unit is suppose to get. Did anyone else here get the National Wholesalers sauna? If so, do you know how hot? I went back to read the product description & didn't see specifics on temp.

Thanks sooo much for the heating up idea. Jeez, I can be so dense sometimes, that sounds like a good solution.

Exercising before getting in the unit also helps with getting more sweat loss. I ran on my treadmill for 30 minutes before hopping in & got much more of a sweat. I think another problem was that my body temp when I didn't exercise beforehand was so low that when I got into the unit, it would take a while for not only the unit, but also my own body temp to rise.

I have another question. I started doing the FIR sauna simultaneously with starting the ISC line. I have since broken out in acne on my face. Could the breakout possibly be attributed to the FIR sauna? Since it's suppose to be detoxing, would it cause acne in the body's attempt to purge/eliminate? I'm also not drinking enough water, which I know is a must, especially while detoxing. Could the lack of water consumption & the FIR be causing me to break out? Like my body is unable to rid itself of the toxins & is manifesting in clogged pores??

I heard that wearing lotion with vitamin E helps prevent and reduce cellulite and stretch marks. Vitamin E is an antioxident that fights against aging and keeps your skin strong and taut. Taking vitamin E capsules will help with that too. I can tell you that this one product that did not work for me was called Be Gone! and it smelled like cocobutter but didn't help at all.

I purchased mine from Ebay and I am sweating my A$$ off!! I am in love with this thing. I only have it on level 4 and I can't stay in it for over 25 mins because I feel like I will pass out! I have a question.. once we drink water is that replacing all of the sweat?
