I noticed those lines this summer and now this is ALL I can see!!!!!!!! Maybe microdermabrasion would help? |
I know it's not the same thing but I exfoliated and the lines were less obvious so maybe I just needed to do that.
Again, thanks everyone for the advice. I'm not going down the route of fillers, especially if they'll cause problems later on. I don't want to be expressionless, but I don't want to look haggard which who these lines are making me feel.
What products can I use to help lessen the appearance because they are so obvious. Can I get the one's already mentioned on this website? I have self-esteem issues as it is and this not really helping, I know most of that is in my head but I can't help it. |

I don't think that fillers will cause you to appear "expressionless". A bad botox job would, but not fillers. Radiesse actually promotes collagen, so it would help repair the lines while filling them up. In my experience, nothing you can buy over the counter will get rid of deep lines, only fillers. I have had juvederm and loved the outcome, even though my lines are hardly noticeable... I plan on getting radiesse when I can save up enough money, and I will continue to touch up my lines for as long as I can afford it or death makes it impossible, whichever comes first... |

Hi there anamoly! You say you had fillers put in for your nasolabial lines. Ummmmmmmm, how much did it hurt? Did you have sedation of any kind or a dental nerve block? I so want to get it done, and call me a wuss, but the thought of needles in my face scares me to death! |

My derm uses a "freezing machine" and a numbing cream placed topically for 20 minutes ahead of the Radiesse treatment. Be certain to have ice packs ready for after - this will keep down the bruising and swelling |

I had nothing for the pain. It felt like a pinprick and then nothing. For me it was virtually painless and I had no swelling in my nasolabial lines. I did have a slight bit of swelling for one day in a scar that was filled near my eye. |

How much is a treatment of Radiesse and how long does the procedure take? |

At your age, I might consider seeing an esthetician for a series of facials and get some solid recommendations on an at-home skin care regime.
Of course, sun screen, exercise, eating well, getting plenty of sleep and taking your vitamins are good measures too. I also tell young people to wear hats when they know they are going to be in the sun for long periods of time. |

I just had it done today. I had very shallow nasolabial lines and the corners of my mouth done with a .03 syringe for 275... that's a very small amount... it took about 10 minute wait for numbing cream and 3-4 minutes for injections, but I waited in the office for about an hour.
I love the way it turned out. My face looks so smooth and there's barely any swelling and no bruising at all. The nurse gave me arnica to take home. |

Products that contain retinol are good for dimishing fine lines. I used Afirm X2 and it worked wonderfully.
Now my lines are gone so i use Alpha Derma CE to ensure they dont return. I found retinol was a bit strong on the skin so once the lines faded i switched. to Alpha Derma. |

saz07 - do you mind me asking which general age group you are in? That's really encouraging to hear you've been able to diminish your fine lines with topicals. |

I am 51 and I do not think I would consider fillers, maybe the ones that decompose in place but what if there is some long term damage to facial nerves or structure!? These things haven't been used long enough to assess long term effects. I have almost no "nose to mouth lines". I've controlled them through a combination of facial exercises, topicals (Maxtrixyl, EGF, vit C some peels, diet and more recently the Dermaroller.
I also agree with Winnie that people who start using extreme practices when they are young end up looking weird. I unfortunately come in contact with a large dose of rich people and many of the women although gorgeous from afar look bizzare up close. Enough to scare you out of ever trying such (I'm not against a bit of surgery when you're older but trying to continuously get rid of expression lines with surgery, fillers and boxtox leads to a sick human who looks like a zombie). |

AlphaDermaCE helped me greatly for many years. As I am getting older I need more. I started doing facial exercise. It has only been a month but the nose to mouth lines are less visible. |

sorry to interupt...
Im 36 and did have fat injected years ago in this area. NOt as bad as it once was - but I look older in my lower face area because of these lines.
I have been using retin a with dermaroller/ facemaster and cupping for a few months... nothing has changed this area.
Would you guys at this point - in my case recommend fillers - because i am considering it for sure...
thanks!! |

I've had success for the under-eye area with facial exercises and have posted my routine on a couple of threads.
Are those who are achieving results with facial exercises in the n/b fold area willing to share their routine here on this thread? (I know there is a dedicated facial exercise thread, but it's very long!)
Thanks in advance! |

If you were going to go with a filler I think Radiesse is likely the longest lasting and the least problematic. It is a micronized calcium compound (Ca, P, O, H) that is sparingly soluble; it is unlikely to cause allergies and is in itself nontoxic. The likely possible problem is that it probably causes collagen stimulation by a scaffolding and mechanical irritation mechanism (and it is unclear what else that might be potentiated). That said because it is not chemically toxic and dissolves very slowly with time it is likely the best option for a filler (most of the others have some risk of allergic reaction, and you can become sensitized, permanent fillers are scary). |

I've now been doing that exercise for nearly two months, and I am very happy with the results.
Repeat request for those doing facial exercised to target the n/b folds to please share their routines - thanks in advance! |

My own n/b lines are barely visible, but to my highly-critical and overly-examining eyes, I can see a difference between this year and last year - so I've decided to take preventative action.
I've been using Frownies, and the little thin line that I have on the left side of my face is not there in the morning, though it gradually reappears as the day goes on. I'm hoping I'll have the same results that others have had and eventually it will just entirely go away! |

Thank you graceless_lady! I am doing 3 in 1 exercise variation from FlexEffect. I feel that it helps to keep NF from forming. Also exercises for caninus muscle good to help keeping mouth corners from going down. |

check out Frownies. They are a bit unsightly but they work and people really liked them on this board! |

Besides a good balanced diet with green tea and water, try dermalogica multi vitamin concentrate. It should definitely improve your skin. |

I'm 21 and I have them. I guess it's from all the giggling I do . But they have started worring me. Do those exercises really work?
I also find a lot of moisturizing makes them less visible. And exfoliation helps. |

This sounds like these are expression lines. Unfortunatly they are permanent but you can try to reduce their visibility by using anti aging products. I use a serum on my expression lines (both around my mouth and forehead). |
