Wow, great forum, I found you guys when I did a search of Oil of Olay's new microdermabrasion/peel kit. I was wondering if this would help with acne?

I have sensitive skin and my acne is usually tiny bumps, that almost look like a rash. I have trid ProActive, which worked for about 6 months and then my skin returned to it's old ways, and my derm has me on Differin gel and Clindamyacin, which also gave me radiant skin for about 6 months and then my skin became crummy again.

Any suggestions, I can't afford anything really expensive.

I read a little about OCM on here and wondered if that would help too.

I'm tired of being harsh to my skin and only making it worse!

Thanks!

Hi glow33. I don't have any specific advice to offer but I wanted to say welcome to the forum! There is so much good information here. Smile

I do have the Philosophy version of the peel kit you mentioned and while I'm not sure how effective it is against acne I can say it is a great product (I think the Philosophy version and the Olay version are supposed to be pretty comparable). It leaves my skin so soft and smooth. It is a nice mild exfoliator so I would think that would be helpful in combating acne but I will have to let somebody with more experience in that area say for sure.

Good luck! Very Happy

I had the type of acne that looks like a rash, with lots of tiny bumps last year, and what helped me was a ph balanced cleanser and a BHA product.

Hi...

Here are 5 habits for healthy skin that I look at every now and again just to make sure I remember and keep on track.

They are helpful for sensitive skin and I think they will be a good refresher for everyone.

They are:
1) Protect yourself from the sun
2) Don't smoke
3) Wash your skin gently
4) Moisturize regularly
5) Shave carefully

Good luck.

Hi glow 33. I'm also new to the forum, but I've battled (and I think won) the acne battle. I think the key things are to wash your face the same time every day twice a day with a very gentle but effective cleanser (I use Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, but depending on how oily your skin is, you may need a stronger version). I also think exfoliating away the dead skin is a must, either twice a week or every day, depending on how strong your exfoliator is (I LOVE Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica, every day). You may also want to use a masque to clear pores weekly until you get a better balance. Finally, as weird as it seems, I think keeping you skin really well moisturized is key to keeping acne at bay. Make SURE your moisturizer is oil-free and won't clog pores, but does deliver even moisture, especially on your cheeks, which get really dry in windy winters. I also use mineral makeup because it's not pre clogging and it makes my skin happier (I use Jane Iredale pressed powder). When you get a huge zit and need it gone fast, a targeted salycitic acid lotion works great (I like Clean and Clear). Sorry this is so long, but I hope it helps! Smile

Can't exactly add anything extra that our lovely EDS ladies haven't mentioned already. But to confirm, I found that exfoliation and retin-a really helped for my occassional acne/pimples and I do get those tiny bumps you talk about to...it does look like a rash, but I don't think they're acne..for me it's either dry skin due to weather or over exfoliation or a real rash because of something I ate.

Make sure your tiny bumps are indeed what you think they are so you can treat it properly.
