Thanks so much Sidda! I've been looking up so much info on this Lumigan topic. I found an experiment online (not sure if I'm allowed to post the link?) where they tested Travatan, Lumigan and another glaucoma medicine to measure eyelash growth. In example B, they alternated Lumigan (on even days of the month) and Travatan (on odd days of the month). The results showed that this procedure stimulated eyelash growth at a quicker pace than either method alone. (Either methods being Lumigan or Travatan alone. I think the other medicine didn't show any results in the four month period) |
JoeyVoice, can you please pm me a link to the article? I'm super interrested in trying this.
Thansk in advance! |

I also tried revitalash(old version) and had great results. I actually still have and use it a few times a week. I would like my lashes even longer and decided to read this thread. From all of the suggestions I think I may either try the lilash or lumigan. I read on another site that Marini and revitalash are currently similar in formulation due to the FDA getting involved...is this true? It also stated that neither one works very well because the active ingredient has been removed. What is the active ingredient in lilash(I am sure I read it here somewhere but I am not sure where)? Thanks! |

The active ingredient in LiLash I think is somewhere amongst this lot: 15S-trihydroxy-17-Phenyl 18, 19, 20-Trinorprosta-5Z. |

I found a place on the internet that sells the original revitalash md, as well as the original jan marini intervention if anyone is interested.
The prices are reasonable.
Also, this table gives a great rundown of the active ingredients in the lash formulas. It seems as if it would be cheaper to but Lumigan if you liked the original Jan Marini.

Hi Angelboots
LiLash should only be applied once very sparingly at night. Nothing much happened when I used it until about week 6 or 7. Looking forward to seeing your progress pictures. |

Does anyone know the difference between Lumigan and Latanoprost? I know they are both used for glaucoma and grow eyelashes but what is the difference? One of the websites recommends Latanoprost as a safer prescription product for eyelash growth...any comments? It is more expensive than Lumigan. |

I have used Mavala and in about 2 weeks, my eyelashes had dramatic growth going on.
It's relatively cheap ($12 a bottle?) but it does give results after about two weeks. |

I have just received a notification that Allergan's "Latisee" for eyelash and eyebrow growth will soon be available (if not already) from one dermatologist in Vancouver. The advisory says to "contact us to see about how you can get it now" or similar wording. |

Thanks for the info. From the articles on the web it looks like it will come out in 2009...right around the corner. I am interested in trying it. Is it by prescription only? |

Hi Allyssa, I really don't know about that. I suspect it's non-scrip and sold only through derms' offices. |

I wanted to give an update on stimulating eyebrow growth with some of these lash products. I have a horrible habit of pulling out my eyebrows when I am deep in thought, and have done this ever since I can remember. I'm lucky I have ANY eyebrows left at all!
I previously used the 2007 version of Revitalash, and found that it definitely stimulated my eyebrow growth and quickly filled in some thin spots. Unfortunately, the hairs were much thicker and darker than my other eyebrow hairs, and it was NOT a good look. But it does do amazing things for my eye lashes!
I purchased Marini Lash and have been using that on my eyebrows for the last 6 weeks. I am definitely seeing the spots fill in, and they look just like the rest of my eyebrow hair in size and color. It doesn't seem to do much of anything for an area at the front of my brow that I consistently over plucked for many years, but it does help with the follicles that are not dead yet. |

That's amazing, Bethany. I have shaved off one eyebrow (permanently) because it is half an inch higher than the other. Apparently, a muscle there drags it up as, if it gets a dose of Botox, it does seem to drop a little. I'd like to try this product on my eyelashes though. |

I am interested in these lash growing formulas but should I be worried about the safety of putting these things on my eyelashes that would probably get into my eyes? |

Hi Bethany...are you referring to the age intervention by Marini or the more recent Marini Lash? I need to replace my Revitalash and I am not sure if I should get the Marini age intervention or the Revitalash MD. I have used the Revitalash MD with pretty good results, but sometimes my lids become sore. I have also used it on my brows and the same thing happened to me. The hair grew in much thicker and darker than usual. I can't decide what to try next? I may just purchase Lumigan?! |

Lash serums (ones with a brush applicator) should not be applied to the actual eyelashes but to the skin at the edge of your eyelid right above your lashes, so the serum will never get into your eyes. The serum absorbs through the skin and into the follicle. Only a tiny swipe is needed - too much does not yield better/faster results. |

Alyssa,
I am referring to the more recent Marini Lash. I would not have any hesitations in using it on my eyelashes at all, but I would assume that my eyelashes would not be as thick amd darker like the old Revitalash formula made them. I had had no irritation with this formula at all, except for how darn exensive it is!
As far as the Revitalash, the version with MD at the end is VERY old and was the original branding (see below). I had some irritation with the 2007 version, but it went away after a while. I also had some darkening/reddening of the skin around my eyes.

RevitaLash was marketed under the name of "RevitaLash MD" from 10/06 to approximately 7/15/07.
The name was shortened to just "RevitaLash" in June 2007. |

FDA approves treatment to boost eyelashes
Glaucoma drug can be used to increase thickness, fullness of lashes
updated 10:27 a.m. ET, Fri., Dec. 26, 2008
NEW YORK - Cosmetic drugmaker Allergan Inc. said Friday its eyelash treatment Latisse received Food and Drug Administration approval.
The drug treats the condition hypotrichosis of the eyelashes and is applied once-daily to increase thickness and fullness, the company said. The treatment has full results within 16 weeks, it said.
"Latisse fulfills a significant and previously unmet need in the medical aesthetic marketplace with a product approved by the FDA that increases the growth of eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker," said Dr. Scott Whitcup, Allergan's executive vice president of research and development, in a statement.
The drug's active ingredient, bimatoprost, was first approved in 2001 as a treatment to lower intraocular pressure in people with a type of glaucoma or hypertension within the eye.
Allergan expects to launch Latisse in the first quarter and forecasts peak annual sales exceeding $500 million.
