I too didn't want to take Oral Lamasil for my fungus problems (nail and skin on foot). After 5 years of trying powders, and oil or oregano and tea tree oil I gave up and got the pills. I was lucky that my insurance covered it as it was expensive. I didn't have any reactions to it and my fungus healed up quickly. Even the toenail was clear within 7 months. If nothing else works do give it a try. I'm very careful now to wash well after the gym and use powders in my socks for prevention. I do recommend following your doctors advice as per getting your blood tests done regularly as it can be harsh for some people. |

Just wanted to update that my derm suspects lupus. Turns out that mysterious body rashes, fatigue, aches and pains are symptoms, along with rosacea that might actually be the tell-tale "butterfly rash" across the nose and cheeks. They screwed up the first test, so I gave more blood yesterday. I am scared that it might be positive, but on the other hand, it would be nice to put a diagnosis on the way I have been feeling. BTW, the culture my derm ordered a while back did not show candida...but that may/may not mean anything. It just means that the lab was not able to culture it, doesn't mean that candida is totally off the table.
I also found a local practice that specializes in BHRT. They have ordered a bunch tests based to analyze hormone levels, to include a full thyroid panel, DHEA, and some other stuff I can't remember.
So, in about a month, I hope to have some answers! |

It's really better to know, and move forward from there. Are you having salivia or blood tests done for your hormones? |

Yes, I was sooo disappointed when the derm told me they screwed up the first test!
For my hormones, I've been to two different seminars in my area, and both places said they believe blood tests are more reliable than saliva. However, I do recall they both mentioned certain scenarios where the saliva tests may be required, and in those cases they use Great Smoky Mountain Lab, the one that Dr. Teitelbaum recommends. |

I have been suffering from Chronic Fatigue/ME for a looong time, though never quite realised it until I got so totally sick a year ago that there were days I couldn't walk or lift anything heavier than a teapot. I got quite a bit better around march of this year and was thinking 'yay for me, I've beat this thing'. But sadly, I spoke too soon and have crashed again.
Being pretty desperate to find a solution to this, I've just decided that candida might be contributing to my health issues, so have been doing a little bit of research. I have just ordered some Candidaclear tablets from NOW foods which has oil of oregano in it, some L-Glutamine, and have started on some probiotics.
I eat very little dairy and wheat as it is.
Am I on track here? Am I missing anything?
Also, I recently got some Beta Glucan, thinking that it would support my immune system. But now that I've decided to do the candida thing, I'm not sure if I should take this as it has mushroom in it. Is the mushroom in this form a problem?
Many thanks |

I havent read this whole thread but have any of you taken the candida yeast test?As soon as you get up in the morning you take a full glass of water(a clear glass you can see through) and spit in it. Wait about 20 minutes and look at the sides....if you see legs....you have candida. |

Lucyluc, can you please explain more about what you mean by "legs"? And do you gargle and then spit it out, or just plain spit? I assume this is before brushing teeth? Thanks! |

Can yeast/candida cause hair loss? I have had a terrible time with dandruff, itching and a sensitive scalp with hair loss for about 5 months now. Went to a derm and she gave me ketozanole shampoo and it fried my hair. Anybody know if this is the cause and how to cure it? |

Thanks Lucyluc for reminding me about that test. I had done it a while ago, but keep forgetting about it. (And it does work!)
Great tip! |
