Hi everyone,

I'm interested in getting laser treatment done but in doing research, I discovered there are SOOOO many different machines/procedures that claim to offer the "best" results. Smoothbeam amd Thermascan were the two that seemed to render the most reviews for the type of acne that I want to treat. I am NOT looking to fix acne scarring (which I think machines/procedures like Fraxel claim to do). I am interesetd in treating active acne with NO down time. I don't want any peeling and bruising.

Any suggestions? What wave-length is the most benficial? Which procedure/machine?

Thanks

Maybe you should consider getting a blue LED. Over on the DIY board there are lots of posts regarding LED's, most are for anti-aging though. But there have been some posts about LED's helping with acne. Its time consuming process though as the LED needs to treat each section of your skin for 5 minutes.

I have not looked into laser treatments lately but when I researched it and talked to a nurse about it a while back, they were not very effective in treating acne, but I dont know what kind of machine were used either.

Hi Girlie Girl,
Thanks for the reply.

I actually have a handheld tanda machine and use the blue light every night. It is helping a little but I don't think it's doing as much as I'd like.

When I did some research about blue light therapy, many said there would be down time and that they experience some severe peeling. I can't take time away from work in the near future and was hoping for an alternative. Have you noticed similar results/down time with blue light therapy?

I dont have a blue LED yet, but I feel I have done enough research that I feel good about getting a LightStim Blue LED. I decided on the that one because I feel its more effective that the LED's actually touch your skin. I hope to get one for christmas.

It can be so hard to decided on the right treatment sometimes, especially when you are going to a dr's office and it will be pricey. Maybe you could call around a few places and ask if they have free consultations. Atleast you will get an idea of what dr's/tech's use and how they feel about it, although sometimes they can be biased.
