I have done a V-beam and IPL treatment, mainly to treat my broken capilaries and facial redness. One week has passed, while the initial bright reddess from the laser has pretty much gone, I haven't noticed any improvement. My facial redness (one side of my cheek)is the same level as pre-treatment. I don't know if the results take time to show or I should consider this round of treatment a failure? Has anyone done V-Beam before and can share your experience?

What does your Doctor say about this?

The doctor at the time said I should go back after one month for follow up diagnosis.

Personally, I would call and ask to speak to the Doctor or a Nurse.

I think that when the Vbeam is used the capillary damage should be resolved fairly quickly. I have heard that with IPL that several treatments are needed to help with the diffused redness. I would call the doctors office and find out for certain...especially with the Vbeam.

I agree - ask what you can realistically expect. These TX are not cheap. I used IPL and got no results and of course there is no guarantee.
I'm doing better with my at home daily IPL use.

There was a previous thread where I posted my experience with V Beam (on the body not face)

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=24845&highlight=vbeam

I did end up eventually getting a good result in terms of the capillaries disappearing, but the red marks lasted almost 2 weeks - rather than the “slight redness that would disappear in an hour” as promised. grrr...

iaimei - do you mean you had IPL and V beam at the same time??

I know IPL takes usually 3-5 treatments to see any improvement. I've had 2 so far and no results yet.

Thanks appletini for reminding me of this thread.
Yes both the doctor and the technician promised "no downtime". A small area on one side of my cheek was slightly swellon the next morning when I woke up. But eventually the swelling and redness all calmed down after one week. I did IPL first, with one pass on overhead and two passes on the rest of the face. It took about 30 minutes. Immediately after I did the Vbeam. With Vbeam since the head is a lot more smaller so they only treat the area that I have red spots or broken caps. It took about 15 minutes or so. I dont think I get any redness from the IPL, only the areas treated by Vbeam reddend afterwards. When I first saw my red face after the treatment in the mirror, I keep telling myself the worst it looked now the better results would be at the end. Now my patience seem wear off a little bit. I just wanted to hear some success story here to keep my spirit high.
But at the end, as long as the treatment didn't make me look worse that before, I think I would try again after I gave my skin enough time to heal and regenerate, probably at least about one month time as the doctor suggested.

What are the instructions for cleansing after a treatment? How about wearing makeup?

It's a bit disheartening to hear the redness lasted a month!

I have been having reparative laser with my skin specialist after I originally had my face destroyed by a nurse with a laser at a plastic surgeons clinic.

Anyhoo - after a laser session my skin lady applies her moisturizer with SPF and mineral makeup - then I just leave my skin totally alone until the following day - I dont wash it at all until the following morning. Then I just use basic moisturizer and SPF and mineral makeup for about 48 hours before going back to my regular routine of Osmosis skincare products.

The person doing the laser treatments will give you a post-procedure cleansing/skincare protocol to follow -- follow it to the letter in case anything goes wrong they cant blame you for not following instructions Wink
