While browsing the Web the other day, I found a beauty book from the early 1900s. The author was an Italian opera singer noted for her appearance.

I found this interesting and thought that I should share.

So cool, VeronicaM! I love old books! And I'm particularly excited about this one because the intro has a paragraph that reads:

Quote:
In this first book Lina takes us on her journey of "Natural Facial Skin Care and Anti aging". How to care for your face, using natural facial treatments, including home-made creams and anti-wrinkle massages, and even facial exercisesDancing . While emphasis is on the face, she goes beyond to cover the whole complexion.

Thanks for sharing!

Nonie,

There are tons of vintage beauty books online (see links below). Lina Cavalieri's book looked like one of the better ones.

I'm not sure how great some of the other beauty books are, though.

I have Carmen dell'Orefice's book which she wrote in her fifties and she's now in her eighties. Coincidentally I meant to drag it out yesterday for some reason which I've now forgotten. We've referenced her on this forum before but if you don't know who she is: https://www.google.com/search?q=carmen+dell%27orefice&client=firefox-a&hs=QZ5&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=_8ULU93oBKae2gX674G4Ag&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1254&bih=827&dpr=1

I just found this old photo of Carmen which I've never seen before.http://supermodelshrine.tumblr.com/post/24428449285/carmen-1958

Because these books were written before 1923, you should be able to read them for free.
