Hi Everyone - it's been a while since I posted but here I am back with good and bad stories. First. I had an IPL treatment on my inner thighs in August. Basically to tighten up some loose skin. They used the machine at 95% and I could take the zaps even though they hurt so I though that was the worst of it. OH NO NO NO. By the time I left I couldn't stand the pain. They gave me a bag of ice, but I couldn't remove the ice for even a second without extreme pain. I drove home with ice on my thighs and when I got home I started to see these rectangular red blotches. They got redder and redder and for 6 hours I was in extreme pain even with Advil and the ice. Over the next week or so the red rectangles scabbed and peeled and all is healed. However, now I have whitish pink new skin where the retangular scabs were. I look like a railroad track. I tried letting my tan fade but I am never that white so I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to even this out. I haven't been able to wear a bathing suit, shorts or anything above the knee!!

Are you sure it was an IPL? That laser is for pigment removal, not skin tightening.

What ever it was - it doesn't really matter. I assume you took pictures and kept in contact with the office that did this. After 3 months of healing, I would call them and ask for their top person to retreat the area to blend the pigment.
Hopefully you kept the scabs moist and protected from the sun while you healed.

I just did a corrective IPL on a client that had a similar reaction to an IPL in July. She was diligent about keeping the area clean, moist (with zinc cream, hydro-cortisone) and protected from the sun. She sent our office pictures the following day, we kept in contact with her every few days for the first few weeks. She sent pictures every week, she came in every month or so and then finally I retreated her on Saturday.

I would like to think this is how it should be done. Lasers are powerful! There is a fine line between a great treatment and too much power.

I tried putting self tanner on it and it looked better but as soon as the tan fades the railroad tracks are back and even with the self tanner, you can still see it. I feel like I am stuck with this for life!!
