Poolean - the sensitivity should be a temporary thing and using a desensitizing toothpaste when you brush will help with this problem. Maybe start using the desensitizing toothpaste for about a week before you start the bleaching. (probably once a day will work and I suggest when you brush - you spit out all of the excess paste but do not rinse your teeth - this will allow the fluoride and the desensitizing agent to penetrate better).
The gly-oxide or Auro ear drops are used for a shorter period of time than the whitening strips so you should have less sensitivity I would think.
Good luck - let us know how it works out.

Thanks sistersweets- I actually have sensitive teeth too. I used to use Sensodyne toothpaste and it worked. I recommend for anyone else that has sensitive teeth =]
Is it really safe to put an ear product in your mouth? cuz I'm not sure of the other ingredients in it. |

aileens123: thanks for finding a UK place to get it, however that link doesn't work for me.
Does anybody know where to get ear drops or mouth wash w Carbamide Peroxide in the UK?
Boots don't have anything on these lines. |

Bermie - I suggest going to the dental products aisle and looking for it specifically - it is an oral antiseptic oral cleanser and in a white box with blue lettering Gly- Oxide.
If you don't see this particular product just look for antispetic/oral cleanser products and check for an ingredient list. You want something with 6 - 10% carbimide peroxide to be effective in whitening. You can also check the eardrops aisle for something with carbomide peroxide. Yes, it's okay to use. Just sounds wierd.
You can put into your bleaching tray (make it yourself if you don't have one from the dentist). Or you can brush it on the outsides of your teeth and try to keep it there for the duration of a shower - obviously do not swallow. This will help get rid of surface staining and give a quick whiten pick-me-up. |

I'm from Melbourne, Australia and have hunted down several chemists, and supermarkets (woolworths)and have not really found anything other than 1 product in the market with 650mg per g of Carbimide peroxide. The product is called EAR CLEAR ear wax removal (2 way action) in a yellow and white box in the chemist. All other wax removal products were from saline solutions or other derivatives so make sure you check the labels before you buy it.
I also hunted for Gly- Oxide or its equivalent and there is no luck for me in Melb either. Would anyone be so kind as to do a CP for me from the US for Gly- Oxide? |

Opps, I meant to write 65mg/g of carbamide peroxide rather than 650mg which would be 65% concentration. It is only 6.5% which is the same as ear wax removal products sold in the US. (Can someone tell me how to edit my posts or is this another restriction on new members?)
I've done more research after my failed attempt to buy the product from a physical Australian store and so far have found 2 alternatives for us Aussie ladies (and any other country) who find it hard to grab hold of these products.
1. Hydrogen peroxide 3% solution. This is available from your local Woolworths and other supermarkets (eg. Coles, IGA). I didn't check the chemist for this but assume it should be available there too. Basically located in the Medicine aisle (asprin, panadol etc) and placed next to tea tree and lavendar oil products in my local store. The product is Called Faulding Remedies Hydrogen Peroxide (Solution 3% w/w BP) - not sure what the BP stands for. bought a 200ml bottle for $3.50AUD.
The research I've done indicated that 10% carbamide peroxide is equivalent to 3% hydrogen peroxide. I'm going to give this a go by swigging it in my mouth for a minute or so before normal teeth brushing morning and night and see what the results are like. It's not going to taste appealing (did a mini test and it has the peroxide smell) but I guess I can tolerate if it gives me results. Will keep you ladies posted. As an aside, this product is also very good at zapping pimples I'm told. just dab on spots and it should heal up over night. Going to try that too tonight on a few spots I have on my back.
The other option that I could find was to buy the carbamide peroxide gel available off Ebay from the seller "million_$_smile" (Sorry newbie so can't post links - just search for this seller on ebay).
This seller is based in the US, ships internationally and have over 15,000 positive reviews so should be fine. They stock 22% or 33% gels carbamide peroxide as well as complete kits with mouth trays and blue light (not sure if that's needed) and whitening pens. This looks like a professional alternative and price wise they are pretty decent compared to other products I've seen online or other ebay sellers. I'm going to give these guys a go after I finish experimenting with my hydrogen peroxide bottle and it doesn't give me a good enough results. Will keep you guys posted.
Alternatively, if you ladies out there have tried any of these alternative products, please tell of your experiences with them. |

Hi all, just a quick update from me on results so far.
So I've been using the 3% hydrogen peroxide as a gargle in evenings only for 1 week now. I've also mixed it with abit of baking soda on 2 occasions and brushed my teeth with it. So far I would say that my teeth is probably a shade lighter, maybe 1.5 shade whiter.... so minor results at this point.
I didn't really experience any stinging or adverse reaction using the peroxide to clean my mouth/teeth, which is good because I was initially weary of that.
I've order the whitening gel kit from ebay and am waiting for that to arrive. Hopefully that will give more dramatic results because the peroxide is just too slow to see results for me and I'm obviously very impatient! Will update more when I use the other product. |

Hi lilpil - Hydrogen peroxide is a good "quick" fix for very surface type staining - good to get rid of coffee, tea, food stains that are not tightly adhered to the tooth.
I use it - swish and allow to settle on and around the teeth while I shower.
You will only get minimal results however in terms of actual whitening and you will need to use the whitening products you are buying from ebay to get more clear results.
It sounds like a good option worth checking into. |

I've tried the baking soda, home hydrogen peroxide and neither were effective.
I found in chair Pola Office to be the only think effective at producing decent results.
In Australia the options are pretty pathetic now that they've made it the public can't buy the proper(effective) strength teeth whitening products. |
