Yes, I know they are ridiculously overpriced at US$90 ... but I've been working very long hours lately and decided to give myself a treat.
I wasn't even aware of these new lippies until a visit to my hairdresser when I took a look at the mags placed in front of me, one of which had a feature on the Louboutin lipsticks. The moment I saw the pic I knew I would be suckered into buying one (or more), with my irresistible attraction to lipsticks with glam packaging.
Anyways I did a search online, seemed not to be available locally, and Nordstrom US with international shipping seemed the best bet, with most colours still available. Never shopped online at Nordstrom before, but am happy to report my 2 lippies arrived in HK four days after placing my order.
It's tricky buying colour cosmetics online, and as this is a new product there's not yet a lot of info available (released September 2015 I think?). I did find 2 bloggers with some colour swatches on skin which helped somewhat, but I may have chosen different colours if testers were available
The lippies come in 3 formulations - matte, silky satin and sheer voile. I got the silky satin in Miss Clichy and the sheer voile in You You. Haven't had these long enough to comment on wearability, but my initial impression of the You You sheer voile is it's reasonably pigmented for a sheer and very comfortable/moist on the lips without being glossy or overly shiny.
To state the obvious, the packaging is beyond gorgeous, and quite heavy. I prefer the packaging of the sheer voile with the snakeskin(?) finish, rather than the plain shiny gold of the silky satin. Also, I think the silky satin is more likely to show scratches, though all come with (black) carry bags, like most overpriced make-up However the ribbon thingy, so you can wear as a necklace, is just stupid and not at all attractive IMO.
Best online images seems to be at Sephora. I found some other sites confusing as to which formulation comes in which packaging, which is ultimately what you're paying for.

I had one and used it fairly quickly. They are so beautiful and I used the packaging as jewellery (necklace) until it got too dirty.
I would repurchase again, but I would like to try other brands first. |
