I have a lot of hair! It is fine, but there is an abundance of it at the back, with oodles of natural curl.

Straightening it requires a lot of effort, and a good straightening product. Over the years, I've tried a lot of these, and Phyto Phytodefrisant Relaxing Balm is one of the best! Very Happy

Unlike some straightening balms, this is not heavy, greasy, waxy, or smelly. A little bit goes a long way, and improves the condition of one's hair as they continue to use the product.

Clearly, others agree with me, as this product is consistantly rated as a favorite amongst readers of Allure and In-Style magazines.

Hi Caspers Mum,

So glad you're recommending this. Do you think it will work for someone with coarse and prone-to -frizz hair, too?

Do you use it when your hair is still damp from washing and prior to styling? Can it be used as a leave-in treatment without blowdrying? I used to use Pantene Pro-V hair serum which I just put in my hair after I wash it without blowdrying my hair. It worked well. I also used it to touch up any poofiness later on. Does this work the same way as the serum?

Thank you.

I have been using this relaxing balm on and off over the years and I was very happy with it. It is certainly different with respect to it's texture.

Great review! Very Happy

I've never used the Pantene product that you're referring to, but when I've used this product, I've put it in my hair when it's wet and/or damp. No difference.

Ooh, this sounds great - I have coarse, frizz-prone, naturally wavy/curly thick hair that I too attempt to straighten despite its best resistance efforts. I'd love to check this out - any chance we'll get to see ingredients posted on the EDS site soon? (And if not, could you indulge me pretty please?) Thanks for posting this! Very Happy

I know, horseradish and garlic!? Sounds stinky! Glad to know that's not the case - I may need to request a sample of this with my next order.

Does anyone know what kind of "botanical gum" they use? I hate elusive ingredient lists!

Smelled fine in my hair, and I am very picky about the scent of my hair products.

I have been using this for the last twelve years on and off and I swear every tube smells slightly different. Always very botanical but never the same which I quite like because it makes me think the variations are due to the nuances of the plants they use and not some chemical blend.

When I used to straighten my hair, I used this. It's a very good product, even on awfully frizzy hair.

I could actually smell the garlic in the tube and hated that, but it doesn't smell horribly and garlicky at all once it's on your hair.

This product really does not work at all for me. I've tried it several times... both before blow drying and when leaving my hair curly. I swear I can hear my hair laughing when I put this on. "Relaxing Balm? hahahaha" Yeah, that's what I hear alright. Laughing
