Friends
Let me start by saying I know nothing about makeup. My skin tone is brown (South Asian) and I have PIH, acne scars and frequent breakouts that turn red.
I've been trying to address those with Curology and my Derm's routine. I think it's improving but will take a while.

Meanwhile, I want to achieve this:

Get a even skin tone
Appear bright - my skin looks dull
Hide these ridiculous blemishes and scars

My GF recommended Deciem Hylamide transparent foundation and HA blur. These seem to help a little but not much. Is that because these are not concealers? What product will help me? I am trying to find a routine where I don't look like I am wearing makeup. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

If you want to wear base makeup (concealer, foundation, etc.) then need to know if your skin is oily, combo or dry and if you want sheer, medium or full coverage.

I assume as a guy you want matte (not dewy finish).

Makeup is very dependent on the application method to look natural and the more coverage you have, the more likely it will look obvious.

I hope you are wearing a high SPF sunscreen.

Clinique is decent for makeup-they have a lot of different formulas and even a concealer that is for acne.

I also like Makeup forever face and body liquid makeup, but it is so fragranced it bothers my eyes lately- even if I never use their products in the eye area.

From the drugstore Maybeline is decent and physician formula is ok.

My sister only uses Lancome waterproof concealer for her foundation- for many years and she says the coverage is really good.

A lot of the stuff from the drugstore looks way too pink on me- esp covergirl. Or else too white.
My skin colour is medium beige w no pink at all

Going to the Bay is pretty good for finding a foundation. Shoppers is ok, but not always as helpful

Holt Renfrew sells makeup specifically for men, I am not sure of the brand.

MAC is also popular with guys- esp guys I know who are on tv or the public a lot seem to like using MAC.

Also, when I go to the Bay I often see guys working at MAC.

I do not go to Holt Renfrew as much, as my friend does not work there anymore...

I don't know anything about Deciem Hylamide.

I use Monsia Skincare a skin renewal system but I noticed that they have a Skin Lightening Cream you may want to check out - monsiaskincare.com look under "shop" I hope it is of some help to you.

A Primer before foundation is very helpful. I suggest a visit to MAC and get someone to apply different foundations. There are a few men that work there plus MAC is an artists store for theatre etc.

Surprisingly, the Laura Mercia tinted moisturizer actually gives pretty good coverage with smoothing look and quite natural.

As a male, this might be more suitable. Take a look.

I never wear makeup. If I wear makeup, I must remove it and remove it. Otherwise, the skin will get worse. May you be beautiful.
