I have been using Frankincense oil on my face now
for 3 weeks. I am very pleased with the fading of dark spots and red areas. They are not gone but very reduced.

That Essential oil is great for a lot of things, including fighting virus infections. No wonder it used to be more valuable than gold.

What kind of carrier oil do you use it in?

I've been thinking about including frankincense in my night oil blend. At the moment I use tea tree oil and carrot seed eo in cod liver oil.

I've been using essential oils..and frankincense for the past few weeks.. and wanting to post here about it. Yet wanted to give it more time.

I stumbled upon essential oils when I started making bath bombs... then using lavender aroma for anxiety.

I have to tell you this is the beauty mother load. I've been using a mix of frankincense, lavender, and lemon oil on my face.. and I too think it is fading dark spots.

Im using lavender and grapefruit as deodorant..and it works great! No more chemical deodorant . For years.. i 've been wanting to ditch commercial deodorant.

I rub lavender in a carrier oil on the soles of my feet and neck at night..and my anxiety is gone. These oils are fun and amazing to learn about.

As for carrier oils.. I use coconut oil..they say almond oil is another good one.

And the best part.. two career oils are high in spf.. pomegranate is one of them. I plan on ordering some and using that as a carrier oil for day time.

I've also mixed some drops of frankincense in my foundation.

I use coconut oil as the carrier also use it on hair with cedarwood and rosemary oils.

I have to admit I have used it straight on a sore on my face and have been amazed at the way it has healed. I have been using it for 3.5 weeks now and I do see dramatic results. I had two 1/8" brown spots on my right hand one is faded and had shrunken edges the other is very faded so hardly visible.

By the way I know that all of my face creams do something. A while back I saw that the top of my left hand is lighter, has no spots and looks younger. I put the serums on on the back of my lefy hand when I put them on my face or neck.

sharky2 Thanks to you I have also been using frankincense on an age spot and it is disappearing slowly but I think it is all the other things I do/use that help, i.e. after cleansing & toning with my Monsia skincare I wipe my age spot with pure lemon juice, then apply the Monsia night repair cream then the frankincense. I'm sticking to my regime and hopefully the age spot with disappear in time.

Coconut oil is not a carrier oil unless it is fractionated.

Fractionating (removing the long chain fatty acids) does make it liquid at room temperature and more stable. The medium C8 fraction is supposed to be better for the skin but I really do not think it matters much. The fractionated is more expensive and the regular can be melted at very low temperature and disperses the essential oils just fine you do have to warm it before use though. The fractionated oil does feel less greasy.

I have been using this for 2.5 months now and am quite pleased. The large spot that has been on my left cheek for years is almost totally gone and some dark age spots are faded. Although carrier oil is generally used for veggie oils that are longer chain it is semantics whether coconut oil can be called that or not. Carrier ois dilute and "carry" the essential oils. Coconut oil works fine for this purpose. Because it is "medium" chain it is better in some ways because some components are under 500 Daltons (the largest molecular weight that can be absorbed into the skin.

The following quote is from Wikipedia (a direct quote: "The fractionation of coconut oil can also be used to isolate caprylic acid and capric acid, which are medium-chain triglycerides, as these are used for medical applications, special diets and cosmetics, sometimes also being used as a carrier oil for fragrances."

I am continuing Frankincense oil and highly recommend it. I had some reasonably large dark spots on my face and they are now mostly all gone.
It did take months but unlike other things I tried I got no redness just the spots faded. i use it every night to stop other spots from coming. I love sun and swim a lot (I live right on Long Island Sound so this has been a blessing. I tried many other things first that somewaht worked but caused redness and drying. The Frankincense oil did none of this.

I wondered if you guys are still seeing results. I saw this posted a while back and had already been intrigued by essential oils. And oils in general.

I grew up with really oily skin and had an aversion to oils and too much moisturizing..But my aging skin is really more combo now so I've been experimenting..
I tried different combinations of oils and decided I liked Pomegranate seed oil because I saw it actually heal a potential break out and leave my skin looking so healthy.

I then decided to mix a blend of Frankincense, Pomegranate seed and Rosehip seed oil and I'm really liking the results. I have seen more fading of dark spots.

I had originally tried niacinamide and NAG that had worked really well on spots but had reached a plateau..and seemed to make me a little too pale if used too often.
But I also find the oil mix with Frankincense to be very anti aging in general..I use it under eyes and everywhere..

I'm sure there are other essential oils that would work good but I'm happy with this mix right now.

Yes I still use this and am very satisfied. I had a large brown spot on my right cheek. It took about 6 months but the spot is completely gone. I still use the Frankincense every day also with carrot seed oil and rose hip oil but I was using those before so I am sure that it is the Frankincense that is causing the brown spots to fade.

Good to hear..I'm seeing some results after just barely a month. But I can be patient.

Which brand Frankincense do you ladies use? I ordered Frankincense and some other essentials from a company, but after the fact a friend sent me a link to testing info done on their essential oils and apparently they are mostly fake or very diluted.

I've used it on a couple of "age" spots that feel like you could scratch them off if you picked at them enough. I put the frankenscense on the spot, cover with a bandaid for a couple of days and it's gone.

Frankincense is an excellent antioxidant, anti inflammatory and natural anti bacterial agent as well. There are just so many benefits. I use it regularly by adding it into my anti aging creams and find it quite moisturizing and healing.

Frankincense does a fairly good job of reducing the discoloration of sun spots (I refuse to call them age spots, since I got a bunch in Miami Beach when I was 35). They do not disappear, but certainly look a lot better, you just have to remember to put it on at night which I have trouble remembering to do.

Its funny as I was in Neals Yard stores the other day and they now have a whole frankincense range, but I think that you can pretty much add the oil to any moisturiser or oil you are using and get the same benefits. I know with some oils you arent supposed to apply neat - not sure if frankincense is the same here though so would mix it for safety. Does anyone know?

I do use the Frankincense Face Serum daily and it gives the great result. My skin has been improved very much in case of wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars.
