| I am usually able to problem solve anything but this seems to have dug its heels in. Short of sticking my head in a vat of hydrogen peroxide, or dying my face blue, has anyone found something that makes a vast difference? I've been avoiding HQ but I might have to cave in. |

Obagi Nu Derm with .01% tretinoin removed 75% of my melasma after 6 months.
Some of it returned three years later but mostly because I was doing a lot of water sports.
Vitamin C serum (I use 15%), tretinoin and hydroquinone are the gold standard for melasma treatment. Prevention with UV avoidance and using a physical sunscreen. When I use chemical ss and am exposed to sunlight, melasma comes roaring back.
I cycle HQ with products using azaleic acid, arbutin, kojic acid and licorice root every 3-6 months. |

| Thank you so much. Do you think it is possible to remove w/out HQ or this is necessary? Mine is tolerable but I know by end of summer I will be a zebra, despite sunblock 45 and avoiding the sun---which is getting quite irritating. I don't like being this pale, and having skin still this uneven. |

For me, HQ is the only product that really reduces the melasma. The tretinoin and Vitamin C help with cell turnover and allow the HQ to penetrate better. |

| I've been dealing with hyperpigmentation and know a couple of gals that have the same issues. I haven't found anything yet either and like you avoiding HQ at all costs. I will continue to look and let you know!! I know for sure you also want to avoid doing invasive procedures. That will only aggravate it and make it worst!! Good luck! |

My mom has had melasma covering two large portions of her face since she had me at 27. Big light brown patches. Honestly I never noticed, but she also wore heavy makeup to cover it.
Anyway, she's 53 now and started using Rodan and Fields. It's the skin lightening one, I'm not sure what it's called. Anyway I was looking through her photos on her phone and pointed out two fresh faced selfies and cracked a joke about naked face pics.
She said "Oh I wanted to send a pic of my brown spots to your aunt telling her about that rodan and fields stuff". I looked again and said "what brown patches?" and she laughed and said "exactly!".
They may still be there a little bit, but you can't see them at all. She's also been using the line for about a year (maybe 2?). I would try that because it really seems to work, although pricy. |

| I have tried quite a few products. I am thinking about trying Rodan + Fields(ligtening or brightening). The Lightening has hq which I have avoided all of these years. Anyone else try it? TIA |

| Use hydroquinone 4 to melasma treatment. Its really effective on dark patches and remove all age spot on the skin. |
