Hi
I have a very droopy upper eyelid. It runs in the family. My mom had to get surgery for it. I will as well. The doctor said if Insurance will cover depends on how I do on the Peripheral Vision test.
If I pass this test, is there still a way to get insurance to cover?...I will have to have this done at some point,I would rather have it done now, while I'm relatively young. I'm 60.
Thanks |

I think what the doctor is saying is correct. You have to fail the eye exam. I need it too at 62 but I'm not bad enough to fail the test! grrrr |

Some doctors depending will let you get surgery without too much of the vision test sometimes.
I had a problem with an eye muscle and so qualified to have surgery on one eye...didn't really need both.
Had 2 surgeries-one when I was 18...my parents were dumb and did not listen to the optical Drs when I was younger and so I had a ton of problems from that.
I had surgery TWICE before age 25 as your eye muscles can go back to how they were.
My aunt has had surgery on her eye muscles/eyes 4 times before age 40...she is 68 needs surgery yet again.
I'm only 41 and need surgery a THIRD TIME ALREADY??
-but trying to see a different Dr and my last eye exam at laurier optical rideau centre-the optical Dr, whatever lousy one they had said my issue was cosmetic??
Really? if it was just cosmetic how come so many Dr. said it was an issue and that the surgery was covered by PROVINCIAL INSURANCE TWICE??
Ontario provincial insurance does not pay for cosmetic Dr AND THIS WAS DONE IN A HOSPITAL.
I am hoping to consult a different Dr. just to see if they might do something differently-even though the Dr I did see works at a big hospital and also does stuff with the Ottawa Senators team and has a great rep.
I'm hoping to go for surgery again sometime, but right now have too much of a bleeding problem to consider going and need a bunch of antibiotics for something else...so not really a good idea...maybe in the spring or later... |

Hardly, they are for the lids themselves,
not the forehead or eyebrows. The oens that cause semi frown lines, are usually for the forehead and eyebrows, but often times they are in a program of exercises and so there are exercises after that to combat any wrinkles formed from that.
Tom Hagerty provides some great ones for free at his websitewww.shapeyourface.com and he sells a dvd that has him demonstrating them. Its a simple system of about 5 exercises thats worth giving a go.
