I'm a guy, my ex told me anything less than $300 just wont cut it. I am looking for the most basic regieme for myself.

I use nothing on my face. Zero! Not even a cleanser. But now I am in my 40's I think its time to do something. I'd be looking at 2 products. Day and Night.

I have my eye on Skinceuticals C anything I can use with this?

Thanks

Nah, it's really not necessary to spend $300 monthly but it's easy enough to do if one isn't careful. Most of us do research and shop smart.
But you're a guy and want a basic regime...

First of all start using sunscreen if you aren't already..Guys have thicker skin but are notorious for not using sunscreen and getting leathery skin from being out in the sun unprotected..

Use something like CeraVe cleanser for face and their moisturizer, too, if you think you need it.
Vit C serums are good to use AM ..Skinceuticals is good if you want to spend that much but you don't have to..There's Timeless and Mad Hippie and dozens of others that are just as worthy and they should last you 2 or 3 months. Try to start with at least 10% and work up to 20% C.

At night,PM ,you might want to try a retinol or retinoid. I use Retin-A but that might be too much for you right now. I don't have a specific retinol to recommend but I'm sure some others might. I used Green Cream before I used Retin-A but there's lots of other decent choices these days.

You might also want to try a Glycolic acid or lactic acid for exfoliation... or maybe a manual scrub or micro fiber exfoliating mitt or cloth a few times a week.
These are the basics and shouldn't take you a long time in your routine or cost you a load. Most serums or lotions last a while.

In consideration with what you have said, I am thinking of a uni-sex brand that would appeal to you.

I can't think of a better brand than STRIVECTIN for you. Clinically proven cosmetceuticals (not unlike Skinceuticals) without any feminine packaging or fragrances.

If you are set on sticking to Skincuetical C for the morning, then try Strivectin Retinol range (burgundy packaging) for night. Definitely the FIRMING NECK CREAM (yellow packaging). Can't have you developing a turkey neck from all the manly shaving that you do every morning.

Go into Sephora and speak to one of the consultants. They will either give you some samples or pop some products into a small containers for you. Very helpful.

Oh, don't use Strivectin Cleansers. Just a run-of-the-mill Nivea for men (blue gel or yellow gel from Walgreen) will do a better job than most high-end brands.

SkinMedica TNS Recovery or Essential serum. IS Clinical Active or Proheal serum followed by HydroCool. Same products in the PhytoC line.

For a really simple routine, EmerginC Multi vitamin + retinol and a Elta Sunscreen....

Add an eye cream like Jan Marini Eye intervention...

Those will fit into your budget nicely!

Men don't necessarily need cosmetics to get younger. My husband never uses cosmetics, but he is very healthy and young, because he always insists on washing his face in cold water. You can try it whenever you want.

Seconding that you don't necessarily need $300 worth of products to make a difference!

Basic skincare routines consist of cleanser and moisturizer at least. I'd also recommend sunscreen during the day. You may need to add some products depending on your skin type. Once you're comfortable using cleanser and moisturizer, I'd gradually add in exfoliating (either physical or chemically, with acids) and serums.

For anti-aging, exfoliating is very important. Some other products you could use are retinol and facial oils. Be sure to use products with antioxidants also!
