Reading through the DIY section makes me want to make my own bath oil, masks, etc! Very Happy However, I don't know where I can find all the natural oils, (especially pharmaceutical grade ones) essences, etc. Is there a place (preferably online) I can find all these oils and extracts?

Thank you in advance!! Wink

Not Canadian, but here's a link from a supplier in Canada that was highly recommended to me. http://www.essential-oil.org/categories.asp The really cool thing about this site is that they offer samples of EO's for very little $$, I've never seen anyone else offer that option.

My favorite resource for EO's, carrier oils iswww.mountainroseherbs.com. They're based in the US but ship all over the world. Kind of spendy, but well worth it IMHO.

The first site is interesting that they do offer small trial sizes of EO and fragrance samples. They are out of London, ON.

However:

I'm sorry, we have a minimum purchase amount of $ 50 US. Please go back and buy some more. Thank you for your business!

I got that message when I was checking out shipping costs!

If you live in BC and DIY is of interest, this is an interesting site. Cranberry Lane has a store front and has workshops. Unfortunately, I am in Ontario.

Nice selection of products and no minimums. However, I put a bottle (2 ounces) in the cart and value was under $11.00 cdn. The shipping costs were $12.46! Yikes. To be fair, Canada Post charges a lot even on little parcels within Canada.

I could order from a supplier in the US and pay less in shipping costs and possibly have my parcel quicker than if ordered in Canada.

While I love to support Canadian business, sometimes it is more reasonable $$ to shop US.

You can order rare Edelweiss flower extract from a Canadian manufacturer in BC. Athanor, Iceelements , Weleda and others include Edelweiss in their upscale skin care products. I have been using the extract from Canadian Edelweiss Growers for my own DIY products for almost a year and I love their edelweiss and goat's milk soap for my skin.

Thanks Teaching91, I checked out the Hom's Honey website and it looks good. I like supporting companies who employ local people and treat them well with a fare wage. I read through all the product descriptions and would like to order some things from them but it looks like so far you can't see any pictures of the items, prices or when they are available. Do you know when people would be able to buy things from the website?

Thanks Smile

That was weird, I received an e-mail saying a new reply to a post I was watching had been made. It was from Teaching 91 and she/he was replying to a thread from a previous question from another member about where Canadians can buy online natural products for DIY products. I replied to it but it popped up in this thread instead and now the original question has disappeared and when I try to view it now I get a reply that it no longer exists? Does anyone know why that happened? Was it because she was discussing buying from another company other than EDS? I'm not really clear on the rules about that?

Thanks Question Question

Teaching91 was doing self promotion....they replied to 10 different threads (some were ancient) with identical recommendations on each.

We can discuss other suppliers, but vendors cannot come on (disguised as users) and repeatedly push their own product/website.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Bethany. That makes perfect sense. I just wasn't clear on what had happened, now I understand.

Question...how can you tell that you're buying good quality aromatherapy oils and supplies from these online stores? I know there are different qualities out there but how does one know if a store is reputable in the fact that they sell high quality pure products?

Have you tried doTERRA oils? They are very high quality and you can create a wholesale account and buy directly from doTERRA. Check out botanicpotential.ca. There is also some great DIY projects in the blog. Enjoy!
