Hello Ladies,

I found Glycolic acid cream ( 6% and 12%) at local pharmacy.

I do not have any AHA or BHA in my routine right now.. I was wondering if I should incorporate this cream in my routine.

If yes then at what stage..

Please advice.

Thanks
Mansi

If you don't use an AHA or BHA then this could be a good addition to your routine for sure,
depending on your age and goals.
I would suggest using it prior to using a moisturiser (after cleansing/toning).
You don't say what your routine consists of (serums,
creams etc) so its pretty hard on the words alone you use.

Thanks Theresamary,

I just cleanse , add a layer of rosehip oil, followed by a layer of moisturizer in the night right now..

Morning is just cleans and moisturize followed by sunscreen.

I am 43 years old..

Would you recommend 6% or 12% glycolic acid for me?

Thanks,
Mansi

Okay so starting out, start with the 6% and see how your skin tolerates it. It really is better to start off slowly - as your skin needs time to adjust and 6% is still quite high. I would use it after cleansing and before the rosehip oil.

Depending on how your skin tolerates it, but I'd say you could easily use 6% for a year without moving up.

HI mans123

I think if you found good quality glycolic creams in your local chemist, I would always keep one in the house even if you don't necessarily need it on the face.

For instance, on the elbow/ heels, areas that are flaky even after a scrub, it's worth using it over a 3-5 days to soften and loosen thick skins. Or on an occasional pimple overnight.

I like using some form of acids on skin to keep it smooth and clear. My first go-to would be 5% glycolic or 20% lactic (the latter is preferred if you have redness or rosecea) but I would start as a toner. Push-pull the frequency as your skin requires it.
