| I have been using Cellular Skin RX Vit C serum for about a year, so I was very intrigued to see the recipe on this site for making my own. I purchased the ingredients from the sites noted and made up my first batch. It called for 5ml each of distilled water and propylene glycol. When I used these proportions, the consistency was too watery and not at all oily like the Cellular Skin. I don't mean really oily, but just so it feels a bit oily going on my skin and then sinks in. I ended up adding about 15 ml of glycol before I got the consistency I felt was right. Was your recipe meant to be more watery? Do you think I have "watered down" the proportions and therefore the effectiveness of the recipe by adding that much more glycol than was called for? Also, second question, it is noted in the recipe to keep shaking the original mixture as it takes awhile for the Vit C crystals to dissolve - is there a reason not to slightly heat up the distilled water/propylene glycol mix to help with the dissolving of the Vit C crystals? Thanks for your help. I liked the product once I "doctored" it up, but don't want to be wasting my time and money if I doctored it right out of effectiveness! Thanks for any advice! |
