It's called "Natural Cures" by Kevin Trudeau. Saw it on a late night infomercial (yup, I, too, suffer from crazy sleep habits ) Any thoughts on it and how the author claims the government tried to have the book censored? TIA |

I was on the wait list for "Natural Cures" by Kevin Trudeau for months from my library. when I finally got the book I did read parts of it.
It is a rather large thick book but it is almost like an infocommerical! He keeps referring to his website (that charges a fee); will tell you to do a cleanse-liver, etc and to go to his website for more information; etc
He absoluetly slams the drug companies.
He also slams the fast food industry; he says that "they" (the fast food industry) puts "stuff" in the fast food that makes you additive. (But he does not mention what the additive is.)
As I said I borrowed the book and did not find it that useful. I could not imagine buying it. |

Yes I have the book but haven't read it all the way through. Kevin is very much an extremist and one might say even an alarmist. I don't discount everything he says, especially about the pharmaceutical industry, but some parts of the read I take with a grain of salt (fast food companies putting additives in your food, for example). What Kevin does, I believe, is make you stop and think twice about your health, life, doctors, FDA, FCC, government, etc. He wants you to think for yourself and not go through life blind-sighted believing "everything" doctors, government (FDA/FCC), etc. claims is true. What I DO NOT like about the book is that in order to receive more information you have to subscribe to his newsletter (for a fee) and yes he does plug it many, many times--it almost seems cult like. So for me this book is so, so...if you can get it used or on sale or borrow from the library then it would be worth it. Overall he does make you stop and say, "Hmmmm."

Although I haven't read the book, I have seen his infomercials. I, too, take what KT says with a grain of salt (but LOL salt is probably one of the things he says to avoid! Ha! I jest. I couldn't pass up the pun.)
Anyway, I do think food mfrs manipulate us using the addictive nature of some foods (e.g. carbs such as sugar), maybe not just fast food restaurants though. And I also believe pharma companies have better cures out there. But maybe the better cures wouldn't be as lucrative for them.
HOWEVER, KT doesn't have a lick of credentials as far as I can see. He advocated Atkins at some pt., lost a bunch of weight and looked great. But then I think he went off it and blimped up again (didn't we all), which doesn't say much for Atkin's long term practicality, or KT's credibility.
And the worst thing is that he is a convicted felon, if memory serves. Credit card fraud was the crime. That's essentially lying and stealing using someone else's credit. So why in the world would I believe anything he has to say and on top of that PAY to hear him say it?
Just my 2 cents. |

Autumn - perhaps the "Stuff" he is referring to when he says fast food companies add addictive things to their food is sugar? I can't imagine what else they are adding - it's not like they can throw in some heroin |

I think this quy is on quack.com or some site like that that sort of discounts these infomercial guys selling their wares.
They basically say that he does not have a lick of proof or backup in anything he says, and that the book is just a ploy to get you to buy into his newsletter and all sorts of helpful information.
I almost bought the book myself. I saw last week, that Wallyworld was selling it, I can't remember how much tho.

I wouldnt bother buying a book from him lol... go into a bookstore and you will find lots of great natural medicine/remedie books.
I agree to some extent about the drug industry. I do think the world is a little over drugged(lol now dont compare me to Tom Cruise lol). I just think we are too quick to turn to drugs to treat things that sometimes a change in diet or "something else" would help. |

He is an ex-con who never went to college or medical school. has the FTC after him, has been banned in places, and more.
He seems to be quite paranoid -- as his book titles suggest ("What THEY Don't Want You to Know") as if there is a giant conspiracy) -- as you might agree if you read some of the posts about him and his thinking.
I tried to submit some links for you to follow that told more about him, but because I am a new user was not allowed.
Nevertheless, if you do a Google search for "Kevin Trudeau" you'll get an earful -- or on this case, an eyeful
I'd say don't walk .. run .. from this man's advice. The only thing you'll get from it, for sure, is a little weight loss. In your wallet. And, maybe worse if you are prevented from getting qualified help when you need it. |

Whenever I'm unsure about a book...I try to find it from my library. If that fails...I'll check it out at a bookstore. I've also searched Amazon...and they frequently have detailed info (I can usually tell from the table of contents if I'll be interested). |

Many sources are calling him a Con Man.

The New York state Consumer Protection Board warns those who follow Kevin Trudeau's advice to call a toll-free number for information that Trudeau is selling their name and contact information to telemarketers and junk mailers.
Some of Trudeau's customers have also complained of unexpected charges for his newsletter and discount purchase programs. (10/28/05) |

Even before hitting the bestseller list, Trudeau, who is in his early 40s, had built a billion-dollar empire as a prolific infomercialteer, selling various health and self-improvement products under the cover of night. This despite a two-year stint in federal prison in the early '90s after pleading guilty to credit card fraud, and a 1996 tangle with the Illinois attorney general, who accused him of running a pyramid scheme while working for a health-products company called Nutrition for Life. Trudeau and a co-defendant settled that case, paying $185,000 to Illinois and seven other states; during that time, the U.S. Postal Service and Securities and Exchange Commission also investigated his business dealings.
A close look at Trudeau's later run-in with the FTC, in 1998, during which he and seven cohorts were accused of making "false or unsubstantiated" claims in advertisements on radio and television infomercials, sheds much needed light on his character and says a lot about how seriously (or not) we should take "Natural Cures." |
Consumer complaints about Kevin Trudeau:

Federal Trade Commission:

He was charged with false advertising in 2004.
Essentially...HE'S FULL OF BS!!!!
They've done many stories on his book, that it's a scam.
Please think twice before purchasing! I was going to buy it awhile ago after seeing his commercial on TV, until I did my research.
The FTC also went after him in 1998...he's been at this awhile...don't fall for it!!! |
