Hey I'm interested to know if any of you have used a topical collegen builder that helps with motion wrinkles on face and neck. I'm staying away from mussle relaxers cause of risk for sagging. Collegen treatment types don't do anything usually on motion wrinkles just checking though. Thanks.

"Collagen" creams, lotions, etc. are a scam. The collagen molecule itself is too large to be applied topically and pass through the dermis. However, there are substances that will stimulate collagen development such as Retin-A, Vitamin C, copper peptides, and matrixyl. More collagen means firmer, less wrinkled skin. Generally, neck wrinkles are caused by gravity and plain old aging rather than from muscle movement. Sometimes neck exercises to firm the muscles there can help but generally, serious sagging is treated by getting a neck lift.

As for "sagging" being caused by wrinkle relaxers, personally, I think a few naysayers have scared away quite a few others from what are good effective products. I have used a wrinkle-relaxer, Relax-A-Line, for over a year now with no sagging. I use it on my crow's feet and my "11" between my brows. I guess if I was going to have "sagging", I'd have it by now. That said, I do not think wrinkle relaxers should be slathered willy-nilly all over your face. I would not want my cheeks to be "relaxed", would you? Smile

As with most things, using correctly according to mftrs. directions will get you the best results. I have noticed that some have mentioned that DMAE formulas are good for firming. Do a search on that and see what has been said here on this board.

Good luck!

Hey thanks for the answer. I do see what you mean about collegen products not penetrating into the skin. I meant to say products that produce collegen like vit c ect.

So has anyone used a collegen stimulator that had decent result for motion wrinkles? Also could you use relax-a-line product for laugh lines or neck lines? The neck lines I got I think their caused by motion. I have no neck sag.

Hi Lotionade,

I've just begun to use Retin-A ... which is faster at stimulating collagen production than even Vitamin C ... but I don't know if they will have any effect on "motion" lines on the neck.

I think just about everyone, including young children, have "motion" lines on their necks. I think it's just one of those things that happens if one turns one's head from side to side.

As for the types of products that relax the muscles ... I don't think they encourage sagging at all. According to the stuff I read, there was some speculation that a certain amount of sagging could take place, but it wasn't proved by any clinical tests ... and since I've used such a product I can tell you it didn't happen to me. When I didn't use the product my lines returned to what they had been before using it ... but nothing more extreme happened.

I suspect that everyone is different, but I have yet to see any clinical testing that, in fact, pointed to the muscle relaxant type of product producing sagging. I think that some people fixated on the speculation and ran with it like it was "proof".

Just my two cents.

Mary
