Hmm. Well, like my previous success post, the castor oil and all those natural home-made recipes were doing a great job!
But I've been loaded with SO much stress...(I've been at school since 7:30 in the mornin and haven't had a break or got home until 8:15 at night lately), i've broken out ALL over my face...okay, a little exaggerated, but it really sucks! I look like crap sometimes, and then I see these girls walking around stress-free with nice skin.
It's been bugging me lately.
And I guess my under-eye circles haven't been helping. The concealer makes them look grey. And I've still had problems with smudgey makeup it drives me insane! I've even used Milk of Magnesia under them, and it does the job for a little bit (but makes me look really dry), then goes oily again and then...smudge...
And BE mineral foundation makes my pimples look even worse. But I don't want to go to school with a stark red face. I'd rather not wear that powder anymore, I think it clogs my pores sometimes...it shouldn't, but...sometimes I break out from it, I think.
-sobs-
Oh well..maybe it's just because of stress...
I'd love some tips though. =( Thanks, everyone. |

Tia - I don't remember your earlier post. Have you added the aspirin mask to your DIY regime? An aspirin mask after a long day always brings my face back to life and clears it up nicely.
As for makeup smudging, would you be allowed to go to a makeup counter at the mall to have a professional application? Like a MAC counter, by chance? (My fave....). I'm thinking that a hands-on application by someone who knows what they're doing who can actually see your skin might be able to try techniques to prevent smudging.
Good luck.... and I'm sure you're being a little too hard on yourself! |

Yes, I've tried the aspirin mask. It doesn't help with acne, but it makes my skin firmer and brighter.
And I'd love to walk to the mall and get a professional application, but all the good ones are downtown, which is a very long drive---and I can't drive yet, and mom definitely won't bring me down there for a makeup application right now.
I have gotten a "professional" makeup application at some Niko makeup store, but it was awful. She didn't do anything, I think she made me look worse, haha.
Thanks for the response. makes me feel better. |

Oh, Tia, I totally know how you feel right now. And I sincerely feel for you. I just about can't take it when I see other girls with no blemishes whatsoever. It's just not fair! I still experience flare-ups during stressful times (I just finished up school so hopefully I won't have a huge breakout any time soon like the ones I always get during finals). During finals or when I had a big paper or project due I ate horribly b/c of lack of time. Are you eating well?
This is what has helped me during flare-ups:
*Remember to take my multi-mineral supplement (Totalmins by Country Life) + other vitamins
*Drink plenty of water
*Avoid too harsh of products (when I get nervous or stressed -whatever- I get hives and my skin flares up and basically becomes agitated (in addition to the breakouts) so I reduce some of the treatments I use on my skin (like Benzaclin and Tazorac gel))
*drink cammomile and cammomile-lavender tea (and let the steam reach my cleansed skin)
*spot treat with Thayer's lemon-witch hazel toner (it also has other calming and disinfecting extracts).
*cut corners to get as much sleep as possible
these are the things that I can think of for now. You are not alone and I know you don't want to hear this but don't let yourself think it is the worst thing in the world because that just makes you feel worse. (I have a hard time doing this myself... whether I have one or a few doozies on my face all I want to do is climb under my covers and never leave my apartment and I hate life for giving me my skin . But, there are worse things!).
I have used many concealers and the one I have found that I really like to use to conceal my zits is Bobbi Brown's blemish concealer. It does a really good job concealing redness and also has licorice extract in it to gently help diminish the zit and help it heal. I use a fine concealer brush to apply it. For me, I use "warm sand" which has yellow undertones that help with the redness.
What kind of concealer are you using under your eyes? Curious as to which brand and color is making that area look grey. I always have dark cirlces (but they get worse when I need sleep or am sick) and I have found peachy toned concealers to work the best to brighten up the area. It doesn't make my skin look grey.
Oh yeah, and I would ditch the BE. It made my pores look much bigger and didn't do justice to my breakouts. Only certain people can use that brand with success. Try either JI or other mineral makeup brands people mention on this forum. I have recently tried JI, Aromaleigh, Pure Luxe and Mineral Boutique. I have gone with MB and it's not that expensive.
I don't care what 'they' say, but stress and breakouts are definitely linked. So try to take a few minute break to listen to music or day dream... things to get your mind off of the things that keep you busy all day.
There I go again writing a book-of-a-post. (sorry )
HTH and hang in there sweetie! |

Thanks so much for your response. It made me feel a million times better.
I do eat well, but I have been probably missing out on some vegetables throughout the day since I've been so busy.
And yeah, I came close to buying a Bobbi Brown concealer...but the prices scared me. But maybe I'll try it out anyways...
I'm using a Cover FX concealer and Burt's Bees (though it is too light, it really makes my under-eye circles look natural), so I have to mix it with the Cover FX concealer...and I hate that one, since it's so cakey. ):
Thank you for the reccommendations, it's so appreciated! |
