Recommendations for a newbie needing a makeover kinda long

Hello! ...maybe this should have been my first post, rather than second.

Background: I am 45, one teenager leaving home in a couple years for college and I've been a rut since becoming an adoptive mom about 10 years ago.

I need to update my look.

First step is skincare. I have crows feet, some brow furrows and a few other fine lines. Thankfully they only really show when I smile. When I don't, they are faint. Rolling Eyes

My skin is fair and dry, I am a strawberry blonde who may change her hair color in phase II of this makeover.

Here's the routine I've put together. I am looking for any advice I can get and I do appreciate it.

AM: soapfree cleanser (trying to find one)

LRP Active C (but thinking of trying to make my own dupe of Skinceuticals C, ferulic acid -Skinactives?)

Cetaphil 15

PM: Cleanser, Avene Diacneal (I can handle this, will eventually move onto Retin A)

I recently purchased an at home lactic acid peel, using this on weekends to refresh skin.

Next up: Frownies or a Freeze 24 type cream for line reduction?

Take a look at the DIY thread - TONS of great stuff there! Currently I am using the OCM for cleansing. I cannot tell you how much it has improved my complexion and "experiance lines" My skin glows and overall just looks SO healthy!

There is a DIY C recipe on the above mentioned thread that everyone seems every happy with. I haven't tried making that one yet. Currently I'm using PSF Emergen C serum 20% concentration. It absorbs very nicely for me and seems to have helped for my dry skin issues to an extent.

Again - before bed I cleanse with the OCM. After a long night at work it really pulls out all the gunk my skin was exposed to and brings a re-freshed healthy look to my skin no matter how exhausted I really am, lol.

Never heard of Frownies, but can give you the low-down on the "Freeze line". It was this product that led me to this forum to begin with. If you do a search on here you will find a few reviews. Haven't seen any through the roof reviews, I can tell you after plunking down a fair amount of cash for this stuff - SAVE YOUR MONEY! No matter how carefully and diligently applied I always resembled something out of a horror movie.

It does "freeze" the lines per say. And as long as you don't move your face, you're all good. If you do, your skin will have a "cracked" appearance (not quite sure how to describe it). I actually used the product on my 19 yr old to make him a zombie for Halloween last year. Little white powder over it, he was good to go. Laughing

I have tried a sample of the PSF "Browtox", absolutely loved it. Before it was even gone I was back online again ordering the full size. I know - I'm beginning to sound like the PSF poster girl, Smile

but this line has really come through for my skin needs, does what it says it's supposed to and their customer service is second to none.

As I said I am really new here and learning new stuff every day. There are many here who have far more knowledge than I. Just my .02, and again welcome, Candy

I think in general, without dropping any brands, you should aim for:

morning:
cream cleanser
moisturising toner (if you like the toner step)
vitamin C serum
moisturiser with SPF

night:
cream cleanser
moisturising toner (as above)
argireline based treatment (or similar)
moisturiser if necessary

In terms of vitamin C, I recently bought the LRP active C when I was in France (no LRP in Australia...) and I think it's nice but not particularly impressive. I would suggest that you graduate to a stable serum instead.

Cleanser wise - the PSF green tea cleanser is a nice one. I love the Cellcosmet cream cleanser when I have spare cash and want to treat myself. The Dr Hauschka cleansing lotion/milk is also nice.
