I'm 21 and i've been excellent at doing whatever I can to prevent any type of aging in my skin. I think maybe I am too hard on myself when I look in the mirror because I see things I know other people don't see (i see a tiny part in between my eyes that crease by the brow..asked my sister if she saw it and she told me i was crazy), and worry lines dont run in the family, but i found the tiniest crease in my head when i make an expression that shows up there. Everything else like my eyes don't show any sign of bags or crows feet..but its weird how some girls my age that aren't taking as good of their skin get these first signs of aging. Am i being too critical? are these symptoms of dry skin? I'd like to see if i can find a product that can erase these things...no wrinkles for this 21 year old. |

Your skin sounds like mine! I, too, see a couple very fine lines on my forehead. I've been told that my skin is parched from all the acne fighting products I use and that's what's making me look a bit wrinkly. First, I started moisturizing better and found the lines weren't really noticeable. Then, my derm put me on Tazorac gel and wow! all the lines are practically gone! I heard that Tazorac fights acne and wrinkles, but it is really strong, though. I suggest finding a nice moisturizer instead. I know Olay makes some moisturizers that are wrinkle fighting as well. I think they have salicylic acid in them? Perhaps, you can try those? Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :P |

Hi Purpleturtle and Jazzybelle,
Products like Retin-A and Tazorac and even salicyllic acid peels help with the cell turnover rate. They work to peel off old cells/skin, forcing your system to create new, healthier cells. By doing this, these products also help with collagen production making your overall skin healthier and freer from imperfections like acne and wrinkles.
Keeping your skin hydrated is also a must in this cycle of cell turnover. You have to use a good moisturizer that won't clog your pores and that will both nourish and hydrate your skin.
Also, if you're using Tazorac or Retin-A, it's mandatory that you use a good sunscreen ... or the problems [wrinkles etc] will return. 90% of all skin damage is due to sun exposure ... so ensuring that you protect your skin from the sun is a must if you want it to remain healthy.
Expression lines are going to be there as long as you have an expressive face. I don't mind laugh lines ... and other facial expression lines ... because they illustrate that I have a full life. If we didn't frown in concentration ... or if we didn't laugh ... we'd be a very dull lot.
However, that doesn't mean that I permit them to become overly deep. However, I'm not going to stop laughing just to ensure that I am "line free".
Good luck

No it does not mean you have dry skin. You can have oily skin and lines/wrinkles. You are correct in thinking expressions can cause these. Especially, expression that convey sadness, anger, depression, concentration etc. So, watch your expressions.
Moisturizers will do nothing to hault aging. They mostly only make your skin feel better. If you have oily skin, you won't need one 'till long after menopause, if then.
Sunblock is the best anti-aging product you can buy, especially at your age. You need one that blocks UVA rays...most don't. Unlike UVB rays, UVA rays a present from sunrise to sunset even on cloudy days and go through windows. Your best product, especially at your age, should be sunblock. |

I should also add a good pair of sunglasses this will help with the lines by your eyes. You want glasses that block UV rays, have big lenses and have the lenses wrap around your face, if possible. |

I have a sunscreen regime I go by...was just curious as to if i was getting permanent lines or not. The lines arent anything extreme like I see on people...aren't even there unless i make an expression. Maybe i shall not make expressions...yes. |
