Hi Ejay,
I make my own Vitamin C serum all the time ... but have never had that reaction before. What you made is a very large 10% serum ... and it may take your skin a little while to get used to that particular concentration.
May I ask why you made such a large quantity?
I make 1/4 of that ... and it lasts me close to a month.
I use about 3 to 4 drops for my entire face and neck.
I dampen my face ... and then one drop for each side of my face ... one drop for my forehead, nose and chin and one drop for my neck. That's it.
However ... back to your face's reaction ... why not start out with a 5% solution and work up to the 10%?
For a 5% solution, you'd use
1/8 tsp l-ascorbic acid
5 ml distilled water
5 ml PG
Hope that helps.

You can get the PG from a compounding pharmacy or the personal formulator website. Vit-C you can get from a health food store or the personal formulator website. Some people use Vegetable Glycerin instead of the PG, it just depends on your skin type.
Good Luck! |
