I have a $50CA certificate that I won months back and I wanted to use it to buy a lightening product to get rid of the red marks left by acne. I am choosing between Donell Super Skin Lightening Gel (which is, btw, only $26 on Amazon and SkincareRx!) and Peter Thomas Roth. Anyone have experience with these products? They have so many different kinds too, like the PTR has Ultra Gentle and Potent (not sure of the difference) with or without HQ. Should I get the one with HQ? Or should I just get something cheaper like the one from Neostrata/Exuviance which only has HQ(2%)? Is it okay to use this while treating with Differin?

Thanks!

well.. I am a licenced asthetician..and my experience with using hydraquinone products along with differin could be too aggressive..or a waste of money all together...not aggressive enough...perhaps you could use your credit or gift certificate on another product you have used before and really like ..and look into photo facials {done with a laser} this procedure is more invasive than a cream...But a definate sure thing... the results on red marks or acne scarring / discolorations is stunning! check in your hometown for a dermatologist or a laser center with a decent reputation...best of luck to you

thanks for your response. Laser? I don't think it should cost me a lot for a couple of red marks. I'd prefer something less invasive. I'm sure some of you here had good results with HQ (or kojic acid) mixed with retinol/tretinoin or Differin.

My experience with SkinCeuticals Phyto+ was actually opposite. It seems the kojic acid irritated my skin and actually made me break out more. I don't know how common this is. BTW in their brochure they say that kojic acid is a natural alternative to the chemical skin lightener hydroquinone and is less likely to cause irritation. Good luck.

It sounds silly, but vinegar (Apple Cider Vinegar + Rosewater works well...the rosewater helps tone and really brings down the awful smell. haha) helps to lighten acne scars.

I've been using ACV for a week and a few spots have lightened.
Though, it can be drying, so I'd use some Olive Oil or something to keep balanced.

Just remember, you can find glory in your kitchen. Laughing
