Has anyone heard of this or had the procedure done? I was watching the local news last night and they were doing a highlight on a dermatologist that does this procedure. They interviewed a woman that had it done a few months ago and she was ecstatic and looked great from what I could tell. All of her perioral lines (I don't know if she had marionette lines) were completely gone. Apparently it's really safe and allows your skin to keep regerating for up to 12 months. They said on the news that it usually only takes one treatment too, depending on what needs to be done. Below is a link to a brochure on it. Sorry the pics aren't the best but if you do a search on the internet you can find some that are more clear.

I can't wait to get more feedback on this b/c it sounds like a great alternative to lasers and chemical peels. |

TAMgirl -- I saw that too and I'm very intrigued by it. I hope someone has personal experience with it and can provide more info.
The website of the dr. is dallasderm.com but it doesn't give much info about that particular procedure. He's supposedly one of only 2 doctors in the DFW area that does this procedure. |

Yeah I've already found the website and I'm thinking about calling for price information. If I do I'll keep you posted! |

Actually I won't have to call. I looked up the info from the WFAA (Channel website and the article says that the procedure costs between $1000-$4000 depending on the need of the patient. So, it's definitely not cheap. However, if you really only require one procedure and your at the lower end, then it's not too bad if you actually see the improvements they say you will.
I think I'll wait til it's been out on the market a bit longer so I can hear what others who have tried it have to say. |

I bought this treatment a month ago at a silent auction. My appointment is tomorrow. I've been doing a lot of research on the procedure but most of what I find is basically the same write-ups/before-after pics etc. I think it is still very new so there isn't a lot out there. I have never had a laser or major chemical peel so I am interested in how my skin will react. I am planning on working from home next week or until my skin looks normal. |

Please give us an update after you have the procedure. I have been loooking into Fraxel, which is similar to this from I can tell, so I would be interested in hearing how it worked. |

I will let you know how it goes! I was actually searching on the web for information about the procedure and found this forum. It looks like their is a lot of good information on it.
I was just planning on getting a series of microdermabrasion before my wedding (i had done that in the past) but then went to an event that was auctioning off this procedure so i went for it. My certificate says it is a value of $5900 but that includes something else so I'm not sure what the portrait skin rejuvination part is valued at. I paid $1030 so I think I got a very good deal!
I'm curious about the results. I am in my early thirties and have minimal surface wrinkles so I am mostly looking for results with the coloration and texture of my skin. |

I've read that here in Dallas one procedure runs anywhere between $1000-$3000, so it sounds like you did get a good deal. I'm mainly searching for something with very minimal discomfort/downtime but that will also greatly improve the lines I have around my mouth. I'm only 29 and I feel they are way too prominent for my age. I don't smoke so I guess I just spent too much time in the sun in my youth.
You should take a before and after pic since that should really help you to see what the procedure has done for you. If you're brave, you can even share them with us if you want!
By the way, welcome to the forum! |

Day One Update - 5 Hours Post Treatment
I just had the procedure this afternoon. I had only a few surprises, one of which is that my face would be numbed (which took about 1.5 hours - i should have brought a book!). The actual procedure took only 20 minutes just as I have read. I have a pretty high tolerance to pain and didn't find it extremely unbearable except for certain areas where my doctor thought I needed a higher strength. It was also worse around the nose, eyes, and mouth as you would most likely figure. Here is the part I was not expecting, the "mild sunburn" feeling afterwards was very bad. I hadn't eaten anything all day and I felt like I was going to pass out. I liked having warm wind blowing on my face. It's the little things like that you don't think about, but I couldn't imagine having a procedure like this done in the middle of winter or when it is extremely hot. Regardless... just as I was told, the pain subsided in about 2 hours.
I was given two medicines to take. One is Valtrex which is a herpes medicine! Apparently, a possible side effect from the treatment is to develop cold sores on the mouth!!! The other medicine is a 6-day cortiosterioid. I was told to keep petroleum jelly on my face at all times and every three hours do a vinegar wash. Within a couple of days, I can expect my skin to become dark and "crusty" (yuck) and start to peel. At least then, I will know something is happening.
So now, it has been 5 hours after the treatment and except for the annoying sticky feeling on my face from the vaseline, i feel great. I think we are going to grill out tonight, but definitely not go in public!
Have a great night! |

Day Two Update - 35 Hours Post Treatment
Well not much to report today. I've been taking my medicine accordingly and doing my vinegar soaks. Last night I had to sleep elevated with all that vasoline on my face which was a challenge because I am a one pillow, side sleeper. My face hasn't started to peel yet but there are some areas which are kind of "raw". My doctor's office called today and told me to call in a couple of days to come in for a visit. Hopefully, I am following orders okay and not messing anything up. I guess at this point, you start to wonder if you are doing something wrong or if you will look like this forever!
Tonight my fiance and I sat outside for dinner. Luckily he isn't grossed out by my appearance (or at least he hides it well!) My biggest concern was having a bug get caught in the vasoline on my face (LOL). So that's all for now. Maybe tomorrow the beautification process will begin (please oh please) as I don't want to wear a mask walking down the aisle!
Good night all! |

orouram - I'm so glad to hear your doing well and it sounds as if everything went okay. I have to be honest that I had NO idea this procedures was that invasive though. They make it sound like it's one of those things that happens within the skin, not on the outer layer with all of the crusting/peeling. I can't wait to hear how the rest of the week goes and what you think afer the first few months even.
When is your wedding date? Sounds like you have an awesome finance to be able to deal with these uglies for a while. I know my bf probably couldn't stomach the crusting/peeling phase. He thinks he's tough but he's such a wimp when it comes to stuff like this. I love watching surgeries on tv and he immediately cringes and yells "change the channel!!!" |

From what I've read, you have two alternative ways to approach this treatment. One is a high intensity treatment that results in the usual crusting etc.
The other is to have a series of low intensity treatments, which avoids the downtime.
With either course of therapy, the final outcome/improvement is the same. I'm not certain, but I'm guessing the multi-treatment/no downtime approach is more costly. |

Day Three-Four Update
Not too much to report here. The last couple of days has just been a lot of peeling. Yesterday I had a follow up with my doctor and she said everything was going well. The newly exposed skin is still very red. Of course, the results take time so there is little to see at this point.
I think I'm right on track - will peel for a couple of days and then will remain red for a couple of days. I have another follow up with my doctor next week.
Have a great day! |

Are you taking any pics? I'm sure you really don't want any pics right now, but it would still be good to see how your progressing. I'm having a hard time determining the depth of your treatment. Would you compare this to a bad sun burn or do you feel it is deeper than that? Glad to hear your doc visit went well! |

Not taking any pics... I kept thinking about it but never did. I think it just looks like a sunburn. Today I would feel comfortable going to the store or something if I needed to. It doesn't hurt at all (after the first couple of hours) so it is all just how it looks because skin peels after different times it is just splotchy looking. I think it could pass off as a sunburn but I would rather say I had a facial treatment than to let people think I actually exposed my face to the sun like that! |

I'm alive and well! I should have had a checkup last Monday but I had to move it until next week. My skin is about back to normal now and looks pretty good. I have broken out a bit but I'm contributing that to the vasoline. I have noticed a nice difference in my skin texture and coloration.... and a sizable difference on my main wrinkle (on my forehead). Curious to see if it gets better (as they say - results continue up to one year). |

Great to hear you're doing well and seeing some nice results! Did you have what they consider to be the deeper, more intense version of this procedure? It sounds like it but I wanted to make sure so that I'll know what I want/need if I ever make it to a consultation. |

I brought this up to my bf last night since I'm really considering having this done, but unfortunately he doesn't think it's a good idea. He's concerned that I'll look all fake like some people do after major cosmetic work (sort of that plastic look). He also thinks I'm crazy and that I don't need it, but I have so many brown spots/freckles and the lines around my mouth just seem to be getting worse and worse. I just feel like I need to do something like this now in order to keep from aging beyond a certain point of no return.
Orouram - Are you still liking your results? Did you determine if you had a light or deep procedure done? I'm just trying to figure out how much actual downtime I will need away from work. I've been reading that the light procedures can be done over a weekend and that the deeper ones take 7-10 days. I'm pretty sure I just need a light one with a deeper treatment around my mouth and maybe my forehead lines. What are your thoughts as to how long I would need to take off? I don't mind coming to work with a little bit of peeling, but not if I'm going to be all scapy and covered in vaseline!
This is just getting such great reviews from the few places online that I've found. My other concern is with how long my skin will have a pink tint to it. Is yours still pink at 3 weeks out? |

I got the deep procedure and it was a solid week of downtime. I did it on a Friday afternoon. Actually, I did go out of the house the following Thur-Fri to run some errands but I would not have been comfortable going to work.
It's hard to see the results now because my face really broke out. I don't know if it was from the procedure, from the vasoline, or a change in my oral contraception. I went back to my doctor for a follow up and she has put me on an intense treatment (since my wedding is in 2 weeks). So my face is pretty red from that.
It's been about 3 weeks since I had the procedure. I probably should take some pictures and do a look before and after. I talked to another girl (at the doctor's office) who had it done and she said it really took her a full month to heal 100%.
So at this point, it's really hard to reccommend 100%. I only paid $1030 and I think that was good but since it's too early to see many results I don't know how much I would have spent. |

I've read a few things about breakouts as well. Hopefully it's just the new skin pushing out the bad stuff! Of course stress from the wedding probably isn't helping either! I think I will end up sticking to the lighter version as I mentioned, especially since I don't feel the need for the deeper one all over. I'll at least have the consultation done and then decide from there. My skin is just so uneven. Well, I hope you start to clear up soon. Jojoba oil really helps my skin when it's irritated and also clears up my zits. Good luck and congrats on the wedding! Stay in touch with your progress. I'd love to see your pics if your willing to share. You can pm me if you want to keep them private (and believe me I'd understand!). |

Hi guys and gals
Do you think this treatment is ok for asian skin?? I have an appointment with a doc regarding the plasma but im scared that they will say its ok on my skin without really looking at it. I had fraxel done last year and am STILL having pigmentation problems and it didnt even cure my main concern- huge pores. |
