I just got the information of Pulse treatment schedule. Many of you may already know about it, but for those may not, here is how it works.

Pulse A - Weeks 1-2: Apply every 2-3 nights.

Pulse B - Weeks 3-4: Apply every other night.

Pulse C - Week 5+ : Apply every night if able to tolerate. If skin becomes dry, sensitive, or begins to peel excessively, revert back to Pulse A, and begin entire micropulse treatment schedule again.

Cycle A: Apply for 6 months using micropulse treatment schedule.

Cycle B: Cease treatment entirely for a period of 3 months (90 days). Then begin treatment again, using Macropulse Cycle A.

Either you are sensitive or not to the retinol, they suggest that we should take small breaks between cycles because the repair to the skin happens during the time off from the product. It is the theory of dermacycling. You disrupt the skin structure with the retinol, and the healing comes when you take time off. It's the same for use of acid peels.

Here is a quote from PSF mail:
As for the Pulse Treatment Schedule, it is a way of building up to daily use of the retinol slowly, while avoiding dryness, redness, or irritation, while still receieving the maximum benefits of the product. Recent research in dermatology has found that you can achieve the same (or better) results from a topical retinoid by applying the product in a slow, rhtymic pulse schedule, as to applying it daily (or even every other day) and suffering through the dryness, redness & peeling. It was prviously thought that in order for the product to be working, you must see visible peeling. This apparently is not so. Remodeling, epithelization, and a disruption of the starum corneum can be achieved without the obvious visible trauma to the skin. Here is the link for the schedule:

Ju Ju,

Thanks for the info. I always assumed that the regeneration took place along the way. I thought most people did? This schedule is the first time I have ever heard of taking time off to allow for that. I wonder...I used a .5% for about a year then switched immediately to a 1% and now am using that every night with the o2 enhancement...My skin is tolerating all of this with no problems at all...I just figured I was a tough customer...but now I wonder will I only see benefits if I stop for a few months now? Have I done the job? Anyone know more about this pulse method?
