Thanks to you Mabsy for a wonderful review of an otherwise obscure little product buried in EDS land
Hi Sarah19, I too have sensitive eyes which were made worse by staring at computer for hours and wearing contact lenses everyday.
This mascara is very gentle, but it is NOT waterproof so it may sometimes get a wee bit runny at the end of the day especially if i have been outdoors as my skin gets oily.
Aside from having oily skin, I also have a bad habit of rubbing my eyes unconsciously and even with other waterproof mascara , this would cause some bits to get into my eyes and irritate & sting my eyes. But i find that with Dr Hauschka, even if it does get into my eyes a little, it does not sting or irritate them at all. One time I even took a shower and washed my hair without removing it first (of course this is not recommended especially for contact lense user but I was in a rush and forgot to take it off), and it did not sting!
That is why I heartily recommend this mascara especially for those who have sensitive eyes.
HTH! |

This stuff really is a fabulous formula for separation and a natural look, I had heard it recommended for ages and finally tried it and I adore it. But why did the price go up so much? It used to be in the low 20s USD and now it's 27 on the EDS site... boo. |

I noticed the price creep on all of the Hauschka products. I'd wondered whether it had to do with the weakening of the USD, but never confirmed that. |

Another voice in the chorus singing praises for this mascara. This is the first one that I have not had to wash off the minute I get home. I also used to rub my eyes alot, but have learned it was the mascara that was the problem! One coat of Dr. Hauscka's Brown mascara gives me a very 'natural' appearance, which is what I want for everyday. |

Wow... that's all I can say... Wow!!!
Well all those of you who chimed in to say this was a wonderful product weren't kidding!
I picked up the Dr. H mascara after being very dissapointed by another natural mascara. But still not wanting to use products with harsh chemicals & preservatives, I decided to give the Dr. H mascara a try.
Well, I was totally impressed. No flaking, no smudges, lasts all day & super easy to remove.
Worth the $30CAD I paid and I will purchase again. |

A further note on this mascara. While I still love it and confirm all the attributes peviously quoted, it still melted a bit when I was watching a Christmas tear-jerking film! Sigh. Guess nothing can be perfect. |

I am using Maybelline waterproof mascara (supposedly the #1 mascara in the world), sometimes I like it sometimes I don't, mostly because the dark circles under my eyes almost always becme darker. In fact, I've had this problem with every single mascara I've used, it always seems to end up under my eyes. Most people who have used Dr H mascara have said it doesn't smudge - is this really true??!! I just didn't think that such mascara existed! If it really doesn't make the under eye area any darker then I will absolutely have to try it! |

Julsey - This is my HG mascara and I've tried MANY, as mascara is my favorite makeup product. I was having a hard time finding one that didn't flake/smudge and this doesn't at all. I've been using the same tube since June and it still hasn't started flaking. I went to go buy a replacement tube this weekend but they were out. It definitely has a more natural look to it, not overly dramatic, but if you have decent lashes then it should be enough to make them pop. I use this day and night and don't feel I need anything more dramatic at all. |

I think most of us hoped that mascara will give us longer, thicker and natural looking lashes. I have used a few brands and no one brand/mascara has deliver all, including Dr H's.
However, if your top priority is really natural looking lashes that are well defined. Dr H. mascara is it!!! It's thinner in consistency (but not runny) and it coats the lashes better and you are able to layer it without your lashes clumps up.
The only downside is that it takes longer to dry but once it's dried, it doesn't smudge much (as compared to the other brands). Nonethless, it's my HG for now! |

Thanks TAMgirl! It does sound great, I'll order it next time then! My eyelashes are naturally quite long so all I really need is some definition and NO SMUDGING! Will post my review once I've tried it |

If definition is all you're after, may I also suggest you think about trying "Lash Gloss" -- here's the recipe:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=136803#136803 Now that I have long, lush lashes (from using JMAIE and/or my lash growth serums), I no longer use mascara on a daily basis: I just tint them with my 1000 Hours Lash Tint kit and then use my Lash Gloss to give a bit of definition and glossiness to my lashes. |

I've been using the Dr. H mascara this week -- my first time ever trying it. I love how it doesn't irritate my eyes at all, but it really doesn't help my lashes show up. It looks like I forgot to apply mascara, and I am using 2 coats. At this point I don't know if I would buy it again. However, for just a bit of definition on "no makeup days", it would be fine. I have to see if I can figure out something else to do, since I seem to be in the minority with not loving it. |

I'm really interested in trying this out and would love some help deciding on a color (or two!) . . . For reference, I'm quite fair, with some freckles, and a bit of pinky-peach in my cheeks (I've recently figured out that I'm probably cool toned) - I seem to match to True's Fair #4 foundation. Brownish red hair, brown eyes with a bit of hazel/gold in them. Since this mascara seems pretty thin in texture, would the black still look pretty natural on me - could I get away with wearing it without much other makeup (concealer, blush, mascara), or would I be better off with the brown? What's the blue like? I've never tried blue mascara and am definitely intrigued . . . Thanks! |

I've very fair/pink-toned and I love the blue. It looks very blue on the wand, but almost black on your lashes. I think it may be a wee bit more flattering and less stark for us fairer skinned people. |

Ok Just so that other Dr H mascara lovers know - there is a new Dr H Volume Mascara - and it is available in black, golden green (!) and aubergine - could it be the long sought after purple that many of us were looking for? |

I may have to check out the volume formula then. The regular formula barely looks like I have anything on; I won't repurchase that one. |

I just received my Dr.H mascara in Black. I didn't buy it from EDS because of the price increase. I am going to try it on today |

okay...The mascara is build-able but after two coats I still look like wearing almost nothing. By the look of it now, its a good everyday mascara. The look is very natural, no WOW effect here. |

ITA, Wild Cat. Same with me, even 2 coats doesn't cut it for enhancing my lashes with Dr. H. So I am really hoping that EDS will carry the new volume mascara, because I would love to give that a try in my next order. |

I would like to try the new volume mascara too. I usually only buy mascara that would add volume and Dr. H's mascara is the first time in a while that i venture out of drug-store brand mascaras. I can't say I am disappointed but it did smudge a little. |

I love the Dr H. mascara. You need to let the first layer dry before applying the second one.
I love the fact that it still look pretty natural but open and brighten yoour eyes... |
