Hi, I am spending WAY too much time in this most excellent forum - very fun and interesting. I have been researching alot on a new sunscreen for the face. I have oily skin prone to breakouts; do not want a combination moisturizer/sunscreen; and want a matte finish. DDF's ultra-matte is out of stock everywhere. Has anyone tried Jan Marini's 'new' sunscreen? It sounds great.
Thanks. |

Which new suncreen?? The anti-oxidant one is not new at all if that's the one you're talking about. I didn't like very much. It felt heavy, although not greasy, and the fragrance was too much for me. Let me know if there's another one. I generally like her products overall. |

Sorry, I guess it is just new to me - that is the one I was looking at since it was described as matte and lightweight. You found it to be heavy - is there another lighter matte finish one you are happy with? |

Right now I'm using skinceuticals ultimate spf 30 and it's not greasy-although it comes out thick. I've been very happy with it & the spf 20 version which is somewhat lighter. If I remember right, the spf 20 gives a more matte finish-it all depends on how oily you are.
My next foray in the continuing saga of 'find the perfect sunscreen' will be the one from IS Clinical. Although touted as a moisturizing sunscreen it has, apparently, a very light texture which I like. I find many "matte sunscreens" end up feeling occlusive & I feel like I'm wearing a mask.Having oily skin myself, it's hard to find a perfect fit-even the skinceuticals isn't perfect as far as UV protection -but it feels comfortable & dosen't make me oilier.
I'm recommending this as a daily sunscreen. Once summer is here and/or on the beach, I'll bring out the big guns like La Roche Posay Fluide extreme which has superior protection- but dosen't do well under make-up |

Thanks for the tips. I get slightly discouraged in my search for a lightweight, high spf, non-greasy, non-shiny, sunscreen that can be worn under makeup. Have tried Cellex C, La Mer, and DermaDoctor (among others), but haven't found the perfect one yet. Based on user reviews on other forums, the DDF ultra-matte spf 30 looks really good - but as I said, it appears to completely out of stock online.
Good luck to you. |

Hi - I do like the Jan Marini sunscreen. It moisturizes but isn't too heavy for me. It also doesn't make me look greasy or shiny. I can use it after my ADCE and I'm good to go outside. The only problem that I have with it is that the gold writing on my tube comes off and I get little specks of gold glitter on my hands and then on my face when I use it. For some time, I kept trying to figure out if these little gold glitter flecks were coming from my daughter's craft set and then finally one day I realized that it was coming from my sunscreen tube...
I don't know if I'll repurchase it when it is gone though as I now want to try the LRP sunscreens for my face. I keep reading here that the European sunscreens are better re: UVA and UVB so it doesn't seem to make sense that I'm here in Europe and keep purchasing Jan Marini from the US. |

BTW, the dermadoctor one has the exact same active ingredients as the Jan marini one and felt very similar on. |
