Hi everyone!
I am still loving this OCM! Still, I having some trouble getting out those blackheads. I use half EVO/half castor. I was thinking of adding some grapeseed oil to the mix for astrigent properties. But, first I was thinking of add some sugar to the cleansing process, not every time but maybe ever other to see if this gets those buggers out! Anyone try this? |

I had a tough time with the blackheads on my nose and now that I think about it I remember getting a lot of them when I used the OCM after I showered. So I'm thinking the oil really got in the pores becuase I had basically been steaming my face while I was in the shower. You should try using a hot towel on your face before you put the oil on. I would leave your face wet...just steamed.
I havent tried the sugar...it sounds like a good idea. I used to put baking soda in my soap when I was younger to exfoliate...that might work too. |

I did it...once. It was really hard on my face  I think the grains are too big to dig out the clogs. They are also not smooth and give you mini cuts so bad stuff can get into your skin and do bad stuff  I did know better...but.
The idea of the warm towel beforehand is good. It will soften up those clogs so they can get out. |

I used to use EVO with my OCM. I've since switched to grapeseed oil and use no moisturiser at night and my skin is alot better. The blackheads aren't gone, but are definately better. I've been a bit slack the last few days, so gonna lay into it tonight.
I'd steer clear of the sugar, it's probably too rough for your skin on your face.

| I use aspirin in my ocm. It really helps to get those blackheads out and leaves my skin soft. |

Have been following this thread on OCM and tried it for the first time last night, so far so good, also made my acv toner and used that this morning.
Just want to check do you have to use a cleanser after using the ocm to remove the oil, I have the Sally's beyond belief cleanser and was finding it a bit drying (AHA)but last night used this after the ocm and could feel a difference straight away.  |

The above quote comes from the “Introduction to AHA/BHAs” which I posted on pg14 of the DIY Skincare Recipes thread. The reason I posted it here was to let you all know that AHAs are not as good at penetrating the actual pores to remove pore-clogging debris. Madeline is on the right track, using aspirin (salicylic acid) in her OCM to help combat blackheads. |

Actually, I will occasionally add just a smidge of brown rice flour at the very end of the OCM massage. The grains are very fine and don't scratch the skin like sugar does.
Since I'm one of those dreaded sensitive skin types, I was wondering if using a drop or two of Dermalogica's clearing booster (which mostly salic acid) would have the same effect without making my skin flare up like an asprin mask does. |
