Okay, I feel really stupid asking this, but what exactly are 'fine lines'? Are they just the beginning of real wrinkles? or something separate? (Please forgive, me, I'm only 23, so I don't have much experience in this area- yet...)

Yesterday I noticed that the texture of my skin is different on my forehead. Sort of like the tiny lines on the back of your hand, but not as deep. I think I've been going to hard on my skin lately (too much salicylic acid and alcohol, on my skin, not drinking Very Happy )

So I thought it might just be dryness/over exfoliation. Especially because my skin on my upper cheeks has been sort of red and rougher, like small bumps that are not related to acne. I've also been dealing with the dry-tight shinyness with oilyness on top, that I talked about in another thread if that gives you any clues.

Also, I've been using (don't hit me Laughing ) Dial soap to clean my face, because right before my "adult" acne started, I had been using it and switched over to many different cleansers (because I always heard soap was bad). I even tried cetaphil bar soap with the same antibacterial, thinking that was it (triclosan?). No luck, so I went back to the dial, and also about the same time started a topical antibiotic. Now I'm afraid to go off the Dial.

Sorry this turned into a book, I started out just wanting the definition of fine lines! Laughing Rolling Eyes

Yes, I think "fine lines" is a nice term for "the beginnings of wrinkles." I wonder when exactly a fine line can start being considered a wrinkle... maybe when it makes a definite groove into your skin. Who knows.

For your forehead, mine started looking scalier/drier/less smooth around 23/24, too (I'm 25) and the only thing that has really helped with that is the daily application of a gylcolic acid product. I'm sure you can get recommendations for good glycolic products from people here.

Thanks! I have been wanting to try glycolic acid for awhile. I'd probably want it in a toner so I don't have to add a step. You might have read about my olay "dual hydroxy" confusion Rolling Eyes, and so when that runs out I think I might try a glycolic acid toner (needs to be pretty cheap and available in drugstores). I'm a little afraid to change, though, because my acne is finally looking better. But my blackheads could definitely use some help, and doesn't glycolic acid help w/ those?

I got some Aqua Glycolic toner today. I did a few strategic patch tests, and it doesn't seem irritating at all. So tomorrow if I don't have some weird reaction I'll try it on my face. I'm excited! Very Happy

I also stopped with the dial soap and went back to using the Olay clarity cleanser I had in the back of my cabinet. I can't remember why I stopped using it, but it doesn't dry my skin like the soap did Brick wall I know, what was I thinking!
