I remember a discussion about baking soda and having to be careful because it is alkaline and can destroy the skin's mantle. And I know that many remedy the alkalinity of the aspirin mask by following up with the ACV toner. I am using TwinLabs Sodium-PCA which is an ingredient that is already in our skin similar to HA. Alot of people have said they use it on this forum. But it is highly alkaline. Do I need to follow up with something like oil?

Never tried the Sodium PCA although the descriptions I've read on it say it's Ph balanced. So my immediate thought would be no, it's not necessary. Though I do use my DIY HA serum and follow it with squalene oil. I've found it helps retain (trap?) the moisture to my dry skin.

I know, they say it is pH balanced. But when I emailed the company and asked, they said it is around an 8 or 9! Doesn't sound balanced to me. Rolling Eyes I am wondering if I have to follow up with something acidic or if oil will do or if I just shouldn't use it? Confused

I have tried the Sodium PCA and I returned it because when I used it it felt like I had held a blow torch to my face it stung so bad Shock . But of course at this time I think my face was in the midst of a bad breakout.

I have a question about the aspirin mask...After I use it I immediately follow up with my hydrators and skin creams etc. Should I be taking more precaution and try to balance the pH in my skin first? I must have forgotten what I had read about this.

Ooh, gosh. I could be wrong about the aspirin mask pH. I really don't know for sure and don't want to mislead anyone. It's possible I didn't read the threads well enough either...
