I've been looking forward to trying this for a while and was hoping that it would replace my (more expensive) Jurlique Rosewater Spray. I ordinarily am a fan of Kosmea products but I am sorry to say I am so disappointed! However, I'm not disappointed because this is not a good face mist - it is - but because I cannot handle the scent of this!!!! I was hoping for a pure and faint rose smell, instead I am getting rose mixed with some sort of strong synthetic lemon I was really surprised by this, but looking at the ingredients I think this is coming from citric acid or sodium citrate or the citronellol maybe? Whatever it is, I hate the smell. It makes me cringe when I spray this on my face and it does linger for a while.

I know someone else here mentioned that they use and like the Kosmea spray. I'm sorry I can't remember who it was but I would love to know if theirs also has this specific scent or if it's pure rose and maybe I have a bad batch? |

Hi Mabsy! I have used both and must say I prefer the smell of the Jurlique one too. It's not that "soft comforting rose" ....it's a very "fresh" zippy sort of rose! I have one in the bathroom now. I was given a kit of their products last week and I quite like the Clarifying facial wash ( a foaming cleanser) ...but yes, it's got a similar smell.
Their stuff is full of rosehip oil.... rather than rose absolute oil which may explain the difference too between the Jurlique one and Kosmea's. Jurlique is not rosehip..yeah! |

I'm using the clarifying facial wash now as well (from the discovery kit) There is a similarity there in terms of smell but I don't mind the smell of the cleanser, meanwhile I find the spray terrible! I think it's the combination of that tangy lemony scent with actually spraying it onto my face.
Btw, the Kosmea mist doesn't have rosehip in it (that might be the only product not to actually, not sure on this) so I was hoping for that nice soft Jurlique scent. Oh well... I'll just stick to the rest of the Kosmea line-up |

Huh... wonder why they didnt keep up the rosehip theme in that one then? You must be right about the citric acid part ( though I had a thought that it might be in there most as a ph balancer after the slightly alkalinizing wash) being the cause of the lemon-ish smell. I just sprayed mine again and I really cant say I can detect "lemon' though....( I certainly know what you mean though).. yours is the newer "green colour pack" isnt it? In the metal container... not the older white plastic spray bottle .. some older ones still float around in health food shops here and there. One more thing! I dont spray mine directly on my face.... I spray it on a cotton pad... and wipe because I like to remove any left over makeup or cleanser with a "toner". |

Yeah - I think lemon is not the best way to describe it either. I can't put my finger on it but it's very acidic/citronella like. And yes, the one I'm using is in the new green metal bottle.
I will try this with a cotton ball. This should help because I think the actual fine spray is making this smell worse in that it gets up my nose etc... I was hoping to use this as a face mist though but at least that way it might get used up. |

Must be my turn to feel guilty but I have posted a few times how much I like and use the Kosmea Rosewater Mist. Mine really don't have much of a smell at all, perhaps a bit like rosehips but that is all. They certainly don't have a lemon smell. All the packaging has a use by date on them which I always check before I buy. I wonder if it is out of date? |

bushy - Mine comes from the Discovery kit. I just had a look at it but there is no expiry date on it at all. Oh well... Next time I'm at the shops I'll try to see if they have a tester and will compare the scent |
