I just saw this product advertised by Shopper's Drug Mart here in Canada. Has anyone tried it yet?
I researched it online yesterday to find out more bout it. Apparently it works by applying heat to the affected area in the first stages of a cold sore (tingling & redness). They claim that if you use it before a lesion occurs, you will not get a cold sore. However, if a sore does appear, you cannot use the device because it can burn the skin. The heat is suppose to break down the barrier that the herpes virus builds around itself, then allows your own immune system to attack the virus.

Last year after a terrible outbreak I bought a different device that works on the same concept of penetrating the barrier. It's called "The Cold Sore Eliminator" and works by transmitting a small electrical current between 2 probes. I know this must sound bizarre, but it works. I've basically been outbreak free for a year now!
Back to the Intercept CS, if anyone has tried it, I'd really like to know how effective they think it is. I have some friends that suffer from cold sores & I think they would be more comfortable buying a product locally than ordering online.

Hi kls...

Kinda off topic, but when I have a cold sore, I use Blistex Medic. It now comes in a pot or stick. I find that because its medicated it really helps to keep my lips moisturized and the coldsores heal quite quickly.

Its a quick easy and easily attainable product (as oppose to gettinga prescription).

I too found that keeping the lips moisturized helps keep cold sores at bay. I also noticed getting too much sun can trigger an outbreak.

my boyfriend gets them twice a year. This next time I plan on trying out abreeva. Up until now you couldn't get it in canada and i'd buy him the blistex medicated too.
