For ages now, I've had tiny little red bumps on my upper arms. They're not spots, as they aren't raised, and they aren't painful either.
Does anyone else get these?
I try and exfoliate twice a week, and follow up with emulsifying ointment, but it doesn't seem to be working that well.
What do you guys do?

Thanks in advance Smile

They're probably keratosis pilaris caused by clogged hair follicles. I've got them and they're hard to get rid of. There are many suggested remedies - exfoliating with scrubby gloves in the shower, lotions with glycolic or lactic acids, dry-brushing with a body brush.

Dry-brushing before my shower, then following up with 10% Alpha-Hydrox lotion works the best for me. Strangely the 12% Lac-Hydrin didn't give the same results. hmm

Do you take any vitamin supplements? Bumps on the upper arms usually means your diet is lacking beta carotene, or vitamin A. Carrots are chocked full of sweet beta carotene-y goodness. Very Happy

My bf has these on his upper arms, so I know what you're talking about. However, neither of us know what it is or what it's from Sad . Oh, and he takes vitamins daily, so I don't think the vitamin deficiency has anything to do with his case.

But what I do know is many people have them. I remember that I used to notice girls and guys with this on their upper arms and wondering what it was. So don't worry, your defenitely not alone!!!

My hubby has these too - the doc told him they were hereditary (keratosis pilaris)and that nothing would make them go away, so he pretty much just ignores them now. I think it's easier for guys to do that though, if it was me I would still be trying anything and everything to see if it made a difference!

I have these on my upper arm too. I've used DDF Glycolic Body Lotion for about a month and it does help but can't completely get rid of these.

ok...don't think I have the same thing. I have like 2 little dots that look somewhat similar to that...but it's not that.

I think I might see if I can nudge hubby towards some gentle glycolic cream for his upper arms - maybe it will help a little even if can't clear the comdition up completely?

I had those pesky keratosis pilaris bumps on the backs of my upper arms and they were so annoying.

I tried so many different things that didn't work. I finally settled on doing this long routine of ocm, followed by tea tree oil and then a bha lotion which helped the situation but only sort of.

I got tired of doing that and decided to just start putting extra virgin organic coconut oil on them twice a day. To my surprise they are almost completely gone. If I forget to use it for a day they start to come back. I suppose if I did it 3x a day it might work even better.

This is really working for me and I hope it will work as well for everyone else. Very Happy

I used to have them too. Now I exfoliate my body at least every other day (helps the lotion absorb better too). I also switched from powder laundry detergent to liquid (powder doesn't always rinse off completely).

I used my Retin A on the backs of my arms only two or three times and it made them go away. I agree with the post about it being a lack of beta-carotene/Vitamin A. Sounds good to me and I saw benefit from it. Plus, I take a lot of Omega 3,6,9's.
