I have a sun spot near my hair line, which is light brown. I am looking for a product that will fade it. Please let me know how long this product will take to fade sunspots/freckles. |

Hello mycharlie and welcome. I don't have much advice in regard to fading sun spots but you will receive a lot of good advice from other forum members.
The one thing I can be sure of is you need to wear a good sunscreen everyday (winter and summer) to avoid more pigmentation issues. Vitamin C Serum can be beneficial in fading pigmentation on the skin and IMO should be used daily. Surely there is a product to speed up lightening. |

I find that they all pretty much work the same way. Sloooooowly....
I have never completely gotten rid of mine with any product, but did get fading with a few.
After they fade you need to become a Vampire and stay OUT of the sun, or use a very high sunscreen. Even a small ammount of sun will bring them right back in a matter of hours!! as I unfortunately found out on one of my vacations!! |

The first thing you need to do is find a good UVA blocking s/s, and realize you have to put it on every single day. Brown spots "feed" on UVA rays.
The fastest and surest way to get rid of them is with laser. Either ruby or Alexendrite for brown spots.
The surest topical is 4% Hydroqinone with Retin-A.
How fast will the topical work? No one can answer that question. |

Laser is something that I have considered but have yet to try. I also used 4% hydroquinone for 4 months with minimal success. Did get some fading, but not enough to continue using it. |

Same here. I used HQ for extended time (more than 6 months) several years ago. Initially I saw some results, but it became much worse. I stay away from HQ now and am in search of other alternatives. |

Did you use a good UVA blocking s/s? That is an absolute must or they will come back or not fade in the first place. This will happen even if you use laser. |

Yes, I used a total block 45. The H just didn't work that good on me! |

I have severe sun spots on my jaw line from years of reckless tanning and "a lifetime" of never wearing sunscreen. I tried the Obagi system last year for about 6 months, but it only faded the spots to a certain degree, and even though I now religiously use sunscreen, any exposure to the sun seems to exacerbate the problem. So . . . after spending a bundle and going through all the trouble (not to mention "the uglies" of peeling skin that goes along with Obagi), I'm back to square one. It's like I took two steps forward, then three steps back. It's very frustrating! Right now I'm trying the Amino Genesis Photolagen, since other EDS members have recommended it, but I don't think it's helping with my hyperpigmentation. I guess I'm just going to have to live with the damage I did to myself over the years. |

I have pigment damage as well that I've tried to get rid of. The most recent product I used was Lancome MelaNo cx (I think that's what it's called), and it did work to some degree but then it seemed to stop. Now I'm using the Dermalogica Night Bright for a few weeks, but truthfully I haven't seen any further lightening. Although I guess it takes 8 - 10 weeks to see a difference. I think maybe for me the only thing that might do a great job at removing them is a laser, which I would like to look into one day when I can afford it. |

It is frustrating isn't it
It would be much easier if the same things worked for all of us. Not everything works for every one. |
