Hi everyone, when I was on holiday I had this treatment where they used the most beautiful Aurvedic oils for face, body and scalp. I would love to get something similar to use at home and have started to search the net for Ayurvedic sites. I was just thinking that perhaps some of you have tried or could recommend me a site or a brand to try. The oils she used on me were incredibly warming and the smell reminded me of cinnamon and clove. I was so dissapointed that I could not purchase these products to remind me of this wonderful experience... Any recommendations for Ayurvedic brands would be much appreciated |

I had never even heard of Ayurvedic herbs/oils until I tried a brand called Better Botanicals, but I quickly became a huge fan!! My favorite product from this line is the Pure Gloss conditioner--- the smell is SO relaxing, I get out of the shower feeling like I've had a massage! You can get it Whole Foods, Drugstore.com, etc. HTH! |

Thank you la vie en rose, I have seen this range a few years ago, it was widely distributed then and it just sort of disappeared - I'll take another look at it and see if it might appeal now |

Thank you lamicruz, their website is beautiful and the products look like the real deal. I have sent them an e mail to get more information about the ingredients and hopefully I'll hear from them soon. Have you tried anything from the range? |

They have sample kits available for you to try. I tried the facial samples before and it was nice and simple. |

Thanks, mtview, I quite like the look of this site and the products as well and I am thinking of getting a few samples. The only thing I am hesitant about is using just an oil for moisture... Did you like it? |

Hi Smoothskin,
It's a fragrant scent of fruit, flowers, herbs and essential oils. It leans towards lemongrass and ylang ylang with a little bit of lavender and sweet orange. It just has a really nice aroma. If I close my eyes, I can detect a lot of the ingredients but they all blend together so well. |

I second Shankara.com
The products are Auyrvedic and I think that the woman that makes it even blesses the water and meditated with the products...cool
I loooove their Microcrystal exfoliation!

I like OmVeda. I dont use any of their products at home though, I'm trying to finish up what I've got at home. I dont know whether they're available in the US. here's the website
http://www.omveda.com.au/
I go to a salon for a facial once a month and they use only OmVeda products. Loved it! [/url] |

Hi Cloe, that body oil still sounds great - thanks for getting back to me about the fragrance.
Hi Svunt1, thanks for your recommendation, I had a look at the website and got as far as the base is beeswax, which means the products are unfortunately not for me.
Hi Happyhippie, I am just going to have another look at Shankara now as I like the fact that the products are blessed and perhaps I'll get back to you with some more questions.
Thanks everyone, my search continues |

I have been waiting so long now to get replies from these websites that my holiday treatment with Ayurvedic oils is just a distant memory... I really like the look of Shankara in particular, and wrote to them with some questions about ingredients, but I have not heard back. I just can't place an order with a website that does not respond to my initial e mail, especially not with this Anna Bellina story we recently heard about... and obviously, I prefer to investigate the ingredient list first. Anyway, thanks everyone for your input on this post. |

Smoothskin-
If you're not completely over it, you can always call these companies and speak to someone directly to ask your questions. I myself find that I rarely get responses from emailing a co. It's frustrating. I like calling because it's instant satisfaction, usually. For me, the Mapi co. always has informed people available for questions. HTH |

Also- Sometimes these places do email back but depending on your email program if you have spam filters on, the emails can get tossed in the bulk mail or spam folders because the email program sees the sender as a solicitor.
I had this happen today. I was waiting for a reply from a company that I could not get through to on the phone and after a week went by I happened to check my bulk mail folder and sure enough there was the reply. |

I was thinking of that, but I can actually check for these e mails as they would go straight to my spam folder, which is still empty... |
