Okay, I live in Hawai'i and I have EXTREMELY fair skin. I have to put on sun-block before I go to school, but I still get pink during the day anyways.
I don't wear any foundation as of right now, but I would like to because I am tired of my face being pink ALL THE TIME! I don't want it to make myself look more bronzed or anything like that. I just want my whole face to look, well, not so pink. Plus, my neck is pale anyways, so finding something that matches that would be awesome.
Also, since I live in Hawai'i, I sweat during the day (walking out-doors from class to class, etc) so if there's one that is sweat-proof (if that's even possible?) and maybe even one with a reasonable SPF...that would be ideal.
Thank you for any advice/suggestions you may have. |

Hi Janetreno! I'm pretty much the palest of pale women. I've been searching for a good foundation all my life, since A) My skin is prone to blemished, blackheads, etc, and B) I also tend to get pink and I hate it! Unfortunately, every foundation I've ever tried has been too dark/orange, so my search continues. In the meantime, however, I've found some powders that really help cut down on the pink: ColorScience sun-forgettable powder (in "clear"), and L'Oreal Air Wear Powder Foundation in the lightest shade--- Ivory maybe? (great coverage, not dark or pink at all!). HTH! |

Have you ever tried mineral makeup? I use bareminerals--The "fair" shade is really light-- I use it, and I'm ghostly, vampirish pale. It does well in covering pinkishness, I think, and it has spf 15.
I'm not sure how it does in hot hot weather yet as I just started using it in Feb. Maybe someone else could give you an idea... |

LOL, you're not going to believe this, violetanne, but the bareminerals make up in "light" is about 3 shades too dark for me. So pale... |

Sisters in Paleness!! I'd be lost without bronzer and blush that's for sure.
The"fair" shade in BE does seem to work for me, though the BE bisque concealor stuff is a bit too dark-- i can use it on my chin and around nose, but it'll leave peach spots on my cheeks or forehead. |

I can relate to you when it comes to turning pink in the sun:( My boyfriend thinks its adorable being that i am utterly translucent and white with these horribly flushed cheeks:( For some strange reason I think guys find that adorable? Blah. Like the others i think mineral makeups are good for hiding reddness and for protection. I vote against bare minerals because the fairest shade was WAYYYY too dark for my skin (Might i add i still have yet to find someone lighter than myself that i have come in association with) ..you might want to try aromaleigh foundation atwww.aromaleigh.com. Awesome makeup for sensitive skin, and you can custom blend shades to fit your skintone. My sisters been to hawaii a couple times and tells me how tan everyone is there...ive always wanted to go but I'm so white and i tend to prefer wearing black around which she tells me nobody wears down there...but wow the pictures from there are breath taking! |

I think a mineral powder foundation would be a good idea, this way you could apply it over the top of your sunblock. |

I'm another one who bareminerals 'light' is way too dark, and I can look pink on my cheeks. I second Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup - I use Alabaster 00 - which is practically white! (Although they don't ship overseas anymore - so best check their website to see if they ship to you).
Cory Cosmetics also do a pale beige - good colour but I don't get on with the textue it felt sort of waxy and showed up pores and didn't glide like other brands.
On another note see if you can get hold of European SPFs with Mexoryl or Tinosorb (not FDA approved in the USA yet), like Avene SPF50+ in the orange tube - they are the ONLY SPFs that stop me catching the sun and are photostable and protect from UVA & UVB and stop me going pink. Some poeple don't like the fact that it has a chemical sunscreen but my view is that my risk of skin cancer is way higher than any possible risks of problems associated with the sunscreen (which are safe by the way its just that some folk don't like to use chemicals on their skin - I try to avoid them when I can and use organic skincare for example but I compromise on an SPF as I consider the risks from the sun too high not to use a high SPF).
I think you can get Avene fromwww.garden.co.uk (Garden Pharmacy) and they ship internationally.
HTH a bit.

I'm not really fair but do have Pure Luxe's Ivory which I mix with a much darker shade, I like because it's yellow toned, it's extremely light, has anyone here tried it? I like Pure Luxe's formula, no silica or bismuth. |

Lolli - Could you compare Pure Lux with some other MMU? Does it settle into pores. JI made my pores look larger and made me itch. |

I like it much better than BE or Cory for texture but it's easy to over do. Too much and it will settle into pores and lines. I think one of the best for texture is JI and Pure Luxe is similar. It will probably not make you itch though as JI has bismuth, which makes me itch too. I say order some samples, they are rediculously reasonable, she sends a large amount so you really get a good idea how it will work out.www.pureluxecosmetics.com |
