It's been a long, long search, but I believe I've now found my perfect cosmetic antidote to horrid dark circles that made my eyes look sunken and weary.
Although I was pretty happy with my Clé de Peau Concealer - which was great as it covered undereye circles without shouting, "Hey, everyone, look at these lines under her eyes!", it didn't always sit well with treatment products or sunscreen. You know, when you get balling and an uneven texture.
After reading a few raves on this board about Guerlain Issima Precious Light Illuminator, I resolved to give it a try, expecting to find some fault or other with it - that's what has always happened to me in the past with undereye concealers.
Application was easy, as it comes in one of those tubes with a brush attached, where you turn the end until the product oozes out into the brush, rather like YSL Touche Eclat.
The texture was nice and light, allowing me to gently pat it in. It melted into my skin very smoothly, with no balling whatsoever. And, best of all, no highlighting my undereye lines!
Where Touche Eclat had given me "reverse panda eyes", this Guerlain product comes in a few different colours. I chose the Beige Natural 20 shade, which blended perfectly with my MMU foundation.
My undereye circles remained under cover all throughout the day, with no bleeding into my lines.
I think (for me, anyway), this is about as perfect as dark circle concealers can get. My search has ended! |

I gave up wearing concealers for the same reason. The YSL one gave me the reverse pandas as well. I'll try this one, and thanks for recommending a product that's actually easily available (dept. store) for me |

marina - Let me know what you think. I really hope you like it as much as I do.
rosebud - Yes, Touche Eclat was a big waste of money for me. It also made even my dry skin break out!
BTW I forgot to include in my review the fact that this stuff is also supposed to be an eye treatment. Obviously, as I've only used it a couple of times, I can't really comment on whether it works in that respect, but thought it was worth mentioning.
The blurb says:
"Anti-ageing perfection is guaranteed by the highly stimulating ingredients, like the SkinLiss complex which features three ingredients with proven** toning and smoothing properties. This complex is combined with a draining and anti-free-radical plant extract to diminish dark circles and protect the skin. Its smoothing action is reinforced by a cocktail of hydrating** agents for optimum comfort, even on the most delicate areas of the face like eye contours." |

What kind of circles do you have? I need something to cut the blue b/c I have a problem with "pools" of blood that collect inner corners of my eyes. Bobbi brown has always been the best for me so far I use the corrector (dark bisque) with the reg concealer (warm ivory-weird, I know but it covers) and concealer powder over it. covers GREAT, I mean it is gone. HOWEVER, two hours later it is back and it just doesn't look that good reapplied. So I like the idea of staying power with yours.
Can you get samples to get the right color? |

wenrwdy@aol.com - To be honest, I'm not really sure what kind they are, if you're asking what caused them. They're very dark blue, if that helps at all.
I used to use the Bobbi Brown concealer, but I could never use it over the whole dark circle area, as it would really show up my lines.
As for samples, I'm not aware of any. Probably the best thing would be to visit the nearest department store that stocks Guerlain and try them out for yourself. That's what I did. If you're unable to do that, then it might help to know that the first 2 colours are very light, whereas I think the darkest colour (Beige Natural 20) is about a medium shade and certainly not dark - probably suitable for most people, except those with particularly pale skin. (I use it because it works great with my fake tan.)
tidieu - Glad to have helped! |
