Christmas 2004 I got a pair of those Jackie O Chanel Sunglasses and I still love them. However, I have noticed that in the past 6 months, I have had more sagging next to my nostrils and right below wear the sunglasses sit. I mean when I have them on, I can see it push down there. If I wear a dif pair that is smaller, and sits right on the bridge of my nose, that does not bother it.

I know it is a really weird observation but I bet it is contributing if not causing the sagging there and that stinks so I'm not so fond of these glasses anymore, lol.

I've noticed that my friend also has big red rings on her cheeks every time she removes her super sized sunglasses after wearing them for a long while.

I have my favorite big ones from Tommy Hilfiger ( very cheap price but so chic style) that never leave any mark on my cheeks or my nose. I spent hours at The Bay trying hundreds of them and just simply by luck picking these one. They are really here for me to keep for the whole Summer.

Hi, I recently purchased some antiglare armanis (new technology)... They're really cool, I mean, they are soo light! They are made of this plastic thingie Smile Maybe next time you get shades, make "weight" a factor :)Thanks for sharing, it really made us aware, and made me glad I bought "light-weight" shades Smile

It was something like this: (I love big shades, so I can avoid squinting) Smile

What's cool about it is that in the optical shop they showed a picture (sort of like a 3D pic) then they let you wear the shades then you can see some figured shadows that you cannot see without the shades. They said that was the antiglare. I have to admit, these shades are very cool to the eyes, I mean it's relaxing to wear! no stress! Smile And to think I wear them with my contact lenses Smile

i never thought of that. I bought some big shades too this summer and just get red marks right in on the bridge of my nose area...they don't touch my cheeks or anything, and are light weight. I hate squinting and now i don't have to..yay.

Thanks joziegrozy! The sunglasses look good too! Is it very curvy? I can't wear the very curvy ones because they would touch my cheeks.

I bought a pair of prada aviators and found that it indents the skin on my cheeks, so when i take them off my face looks like i have been wearing goggles. I don't think the glasses are too tight but it's just the way they sit on my face i guess. Also, i have been breaking out in places where the rims touch my cheeks and nose. Anyone having problems with that as well?

I don't think I'm breaking out where my glasses touch my face ... although I can see how that could happen. Mine get a build up of makeup and oils on them that I have to clean. I really like the look of bigger glasses, but I can't wear them myself .... I can't stand the feeling of having them sitting so far down my cheeks. It just feels weird to me. I have some Prada sunglasses I bought last year that I LOVE ... I think they make my face look a little thinner. Here's a pic if anyone is interested.

Anyway, I'm jealous of all of you who can wear the big shades ... I think they're so cool! Very Happy

If over-sized sunglasses DO cause sagging, can you imagine what Paris and Nicole will look like in a couple of years?! Bad Grin

When I was in my twenties I worked in a very hot environment (lots of sweating), and I had to wear heavy shades with glass lenses for eye protection. Over time it actually thinned my skin where the glasses rested.

It isn't a visible problem, but to this day the area gets painfully irritated when I wear sunglasses out in the summer heat. I can only wear lightweight sunglasses now, which helps delay the irritation.

Yes, I bet the sagging problem has more to do with wearing heavy glasses all day rather than the style of them. I guess it's a tradeoff since big, dark glasses are good for further protecting your eyes against the sun and UV radiation. But a lightweight pair shouldn't pose a problem.
