Okay, hubby and I are trying to get pregnant.

Short of the obvious (sex, and lots of it), are there any hints and tips that we could use?

Thanks Very Happy

Maybe you're doing this already, but are you taking your temperature first thing in the mornings so as to know when you're ovulating?

Hi! I second stardust's question. I have found that if you get a great book on the topic (I used Taking Charge of Your Fertility) and learn about the rhythyms and signs of your body, it takes a lot of guesswork out of getting pregnant. I've used this information for two out of three pregnancies now. Both the second and the third time, I got pregnant IMMEDIATELY just by paying attention to my body and noticing the signs of when I was ovulating. Of course, the downside for me is I now am pregnant with my THIRD boy (if you have sex the day you ovulate the chances of having a boy go waaaaaay up)!! I suppose if I was more patient I would have gotten a girl (the book and others like it go into the best timing for getting a girl). I think we might try again for a girl but we will DEFINITELY work at it this time and try to do what the books say.

The female body is an awesome instrument and if we pay attention to it, we actually can learn so much about ourselves that makes it easier in the long run. I loved reading this book because I no longer am second guessing what's going on with my periods/fertility, etc.

Good luck!

Hi! Very Happy

I didn't have a basal thermometer, but I did go out and get one tonight!! Smile

I have been reading up on it, and I think I know what to look out for (in terms on changes in my body).

I think I may take a look at that book you recommended.

Thanks! Very Happy

The most important thing is to relax and eat well, stress, being too thin and over exercise are killers.

Besides that there are things that thin the cervical mucous and make getting pregnant nore likely (like cough syrup).[/list]

I don't have kids, but I recall my mom also mentioning taking your temperature to see if you are ovulating.

I would think too (just guessing) but not focusing all your energies (i.e. worries) on it. Let nature take its course!

Thanks for the tips.

It was getting a little frustrating and it was starting to feel a bit like a chore....grrr...Things are feeling a bit better now, because we figure that when it happens, it happens. Its nice to kinda get back to 'normal' instead of focusing our energy on babies!!

It did, didn't it?! It felt like FOREVER when it wasn't happening, then suddenly...*gulp* I'm pregnant! Its so weird that you spend so much time trying to prevent pregnancy, then when you get to that stage, you want want badly.

I guess when I first posted this message, I was already pregnant, but didn't know it!@!

Does this mean less money for clothes, makeup and skincare?! Confused Hehehee Smile Its alll gooood!

Thanks for the well wishes. We are both sooo excited!
