I saw this new Almay Smart Shade makeup at the drugstore for the first time today and it really caught my eye! ... a tinted moisturizer that comes out of the tube a white liquid product with dark little beads ... and then when you rub it into your skin, it turns colour and is supposed to adjust to your skintone. I'm really curious to know if the shades have natural looking undertones and if it changes colour over the day or if it stays fresh looking and un-orangey... I was so tempted to buy it to try, but it was $20! |

Okay. I was going to write a review on Almay Smart Skin makeup but found this rather old thread through the search function just in case you all already knew about it. So, since there were no replies to this post, here goes.
Bought this for the first time today. I'd never seen or even heard of Almay Smart Skin makeup and I thought "why not". I'm an Everyday Minerals girl for those few times I actually wear foundation. I generally go without foundation.
Anyway,I bought the Almay Smart Shade makeup in the light/medium shade at Walmart for $11.98. Tried it and it's amazing! It's me only better and a itsy bit younger looking! It is white. I didn't see any little brown beads but they're probably there.
What the package says:
"Takes the guesswork out of finding the right shade. Magically transforms into your ideal shade.
* Colorless makeup transforms into a shade that complements your skintone.
* Skin looks smooth, even and natural."
It has a SPF of 15 and contains Aloe.
What it did on my skin:
Blended perfectly. The texture is smooth and creamy but LIGHT.
Smoothed out the appearance of my skin and hid the pores.
Texture when dry is matte but not heavily so. Which is good for my light-to-moderately oily skin. The finish is faintly powdery to the touch but doesn't look powdery and my cheeks feel smooth as a "baby's butt". (Guess it's the aloe.)
I'm 56 and smoke (I know. Oh horrors!) This foundation doesn't cake in the lines and wrinkles. It sort of diminishes the lines and makes actual wrinkles look a lot more shallow and the appearance of the wrinkles is a whole lot less noticeable.
Drawback: There is a bit of a drawback where you might have pinhole scars. I have a couple on each cheek. The foundation wants to stay white in those so you have to really work it in. But, the effect is worth it. It really smoothes them out.
I'll be getting a couple more tubes the next time I go to Walmart in case it becomes "one of those things I love and can't find anymore".

I tried this awhile ago and thought it was okay, but realized that even the "Light" shade was still a bit too dark for my skin. It looked fine when I first applied it, but seemed to get darker as the day went on. It wasn't super-obvious, but it didn't make me comfortable, so I stopped using it. |
