I have read a lot of reviews about different eye creams and gels with SPF 15 in them, but none of them tell me the one thing I want to know--does it burn? Does anyone know of a product with at least SPF 15 that doesn't burn when it gets in your eyes?

Know that all eye products are opthamologist-tested, and are safe for use in the eye area. This does not mean that a product will not sting if it comes in-contact with your actual eye. Common sense: you needn't be placing your product so close to the eye-lid(s). Keep the product just past the orbital bone/structure of the eye.

Yes, but if you swim or go in the ocean, the stuff still gets in your eyes. This is what I'm looking for--even if it GETS in your eye, it won't burn. Thanks for the insult, too.

Hi cigictj,
Please see my reply to your post under the Murad thread. Btw, are you sure that it's the eyecream that is burning your eyes though? When you swim, wherever that may be, it's more likely to be the stuff in the water. Nevertheless, I have tried eyecreams in the past that stung a bit when I got them too close to the inner corner of the eye (that may have been the eyecream or the sensitivity of my eyes on the given day). The Murad one is not one of them.
What Caspers Mum said though is the best, and professional, advice. Eye cream should not really be applied too close to the eye (though I do apply it very close). I'm 100% sure that the post was not meant as an insult (I actually don't find it insulting at all). Reality of the "internet communication age" (i.e. face-less communication) is that it is sometimes hard to read exactly in what way a statement was intended. I always give people the benefit of a doubt unless they have said something that was obviously bad.
Mabsy.
ps. The Cellcosmet Eye Cream is also very light and gentle, it's another one of my favourites. |

thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it. What I meant by the insult, though, was that to say "common sense," implied that I don't have any. I never said I applied the eye cream too close to my eye, just that it got in my eye. But I'm sure it's the eye cream that's burning, so I'll try your suggestions. Thanks!

Hi again Cigictj,
I've answered your Q in the other post but just thought I would add that the only time I get any stinging or burning in my eyes is not from the use of eye creams themselves but when I am doing sports. I find that when I'm out walking/ jogging, sweat from my forehead drips into my eyes and really stings... same thing with sea water and chlorine. So the eye products are not the worry, it's the other substances that make it's way (especially sweat mixed with sunblock!) into your eyes that you'll get a burning sensation. I aways carry bottled water to quench myself and flush out my eyes when this happens.
As for the common sense implication, I don't think Caspers Mum meant it to be personal or derogatory, it's more a general statement, not one directed personally. You'll find that everyone here is really helpful on this forum and as it's a 'faceless' means of communicating we can be really frank and be shamelessly honest !:P) but we're all learning from each other-- that's the best thing about this forum !

Thanks again for your help...but trust me, I know it's the eye creams that are burning--I'm an eye-rubber, I don't wear makeup on them, so why not!? And when I do--burning and stinging often ensue. You'd think I'd learn. Anyway, so I will try the Murad when I get the chance and again, thanks!

By the way: to Casper's Mum, if you're reading this: I am sorry for assuming! I must have been having a bad day, how wrong of me! Thank you for your advice, though.
