Exfoliate and moisturize with Burts Bees Coconut Foot Creme. |

Use a good file to remove tough skin, Diamond files are an excellent choice. Moisturize daily, I use moisturizing gel booties 3-4 times a week. A really good treatment is to apply a rich cream at night & wear socks to bed.
I found the most effective way to keep my feet soft is to have a regular routine- I treat my feet to a "spa night" once a week while watching Sex & the City. |

Oh, those gel booties sound really nice. Where did you get them?
I really like this Tweezerman Foot Rasp I bought a few weeks. The only thing I had about all those foot files, they work so great the first few times and then they wear down and aren't so great. I wish they could stay the way you bought them. But then I guess no one would ever repurchase them.
Right now for foot cream, I'm using this scented one from Make Me Smooth ... it's their Sole Provider Foot Cream and I get it in the "Frosty Goes to Hawaii" scent ... oh my gosh, I LOVE, LOVE this scent so much!! It's a mix of peppermint, vanilla, Coconut and pineapple. MmMmMMmmm ... I want to get this same scent in other products of their as well (you can choose from hundreds of scents for their products). Anyway, the foot cream is really nice and makes your feet feel really smooth.
I also have a foot bath that I'll sometimes pull out if my feet have been feeling achy. It's like a little whirl pool for your feet ... it's so relaxing! |

Yen- it is great, especially when you add wine!
Moonstarr- I get the booties from Shopper's Drug Mart in Canada.
The great thing about diamond files is that they won't go dull. (Industrial grade diamonds are used in industry to sharpen metal tools, so rough skin isn't going to be any kind of a workout for them!) I have 2 Diamancel files, #20 for callouses & #10 for filing. I also use a diamond nail file for finishing- makes the skin super smooth. They're fairly pricey, as I recall I paid @ $45 each, but they'll last a lifetime. These files are actually what got my feet back to being baby soft! |

OoOO ... I SO want to me some of those! Where did you buy them? I love the idea of not having to keep repurchasing files because they loose effectiveness. I think that would be worth the $45! |

Moonstarr- The diamond nail file is Witchcraft brand, got it at Shoppers. I got the Diamancel files online from a place in Edmonton, got brain fade right now, can't recall the name. I'll look it up & get back to you. I know it was mentioned in a post last year, that's how I found out where to get them.
Two other things that work great for feet:
Spa Foot Pumice Cream with lavender & tea tree oil from Sally Hanson. Massage it in until it starts balling up & coming off like eraser shavings(just like the procedure with Epidermx). Your feet will be super soft & smell great! Can't beat the price either!
Microbrasion works great too. I tried the DermaNew made for feet & hands, but found any other type works just as well if not better. |

kls- how long will the gel booties last? I have really dry feet, especially the heels, they are hard and rough. I hope I could get them soft again. |

Tidieu- They last about 3 months & can be gently washed. I've got two pairs I'm using right now: a new pair for inside and an old pair if I'm out on the deck.
If you have hard rough skin on your heels you have to get rid of that first before any moisturizer is going to work. I had really bad rough feet, I mean B*A*D! It took over a week of filing 1-2 times a day to get through all the deep cracks in my heels. (I was careful not to remove too much at one time). Once I got all the rough stuff removed, that's when I really noticed the benefits from moisturizers. I think DH has gotten quite weary of me always saying "feel my feet! Come on...feel my feet!" |

Ok, hate to say it, but taking care of your feet is a FULL TIME every day job. I really, really take care of my feet.
Every day before the shower I use a dry foot file (Body Shop), I then wash my feet with a washcloth (gets all the dirt off from flip flops). Then when I get out of the shower I foot file them again. I then slather body shop peppermint foot lotion on them. Once a week or so I soak them in baking soda and warm water.
I do this every day, even in the winter! And I always, always keep my toenails short and painted.
I find if you take care of your feet every day for the whole year, the summer isn't that hard. |

I do that to my hubby, he will NOT comply. Even worse though, try... "smell my shoes, smell my shoes!" hahaha...because like Yen I also use the BB's coconut foot cream and my workout tennies smell delicious, well they DO!!.
Poor hubby . It's become a "game". But if he would just do what I ask one time- either feel my feet or smell my shoes, I promise I won't ask again.

Shoppers has moisture booties? I should really pay more attention next time. I was thinking of a getting a pair from the Shopping Channel. How much did you pay for them at Shoppers?
Some wine...how about some Baileys? |

They're $35, but I've seen them on sale for 30% off a couple of times since January.

Thanks! I'll be sure to check this out ... I see it looks like you have to phone them with your order? I'll wait until my Tweezerman Foot Rasp is pretty much done though before I buy anything else.
Although I may pick up those gel booties soon! |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm thinking of doing a facial mask too. It could be a complete spa night for me. |

Most spa nights include feet, hands, mask & hair conditioning (if I don't get into too much wine!) Hubby knows that's my evening, so he stays away until he's sure my show is done! This past winter we were doing the paraffin wax thing, I do my feet & hands, and then when he's "allowed" to come home, he does his hands.
It really makes the skin soft, helps joint pain, but it is kind of time consuming (you sit there with your hands & feet wrapped in plastic & insulators for 20-30 minutes. |

Do you have one of those paraffin wax machines? I've been eyeing on those. I really wanted one big enough so that I could do my feet too. Everyone keeps raving about how good the paraffin is for their skin.
I've been spending so much time on my face and not enough time on the rest of my body. I'm glad that you brought up the whole spa idea.
Glad to hear that your husband respects your spa time. |

I have the Dr. Scholls machine, and it's big enough to do my feet, but probably not a man's. It was about $50, which isn't bad, but it's the wax refills that get costly. There are 2 options: replace the wax more frequently if you discard the used wax back into the machine, or, toss the used wax after using & it lasts about twice as long. I do the latter. I keep a sticker on the machine so I know how many times we've used it. I got a minor infection under my nail one time after using the paraffin & I think it was caused by contaminated wax. Now I'm quite diligent about changing it on a frequent basis. I bought some generic paraffin, but it has a higher melting point so it didn't work. (That was a waste of money. I bought it at a wholesale store & now I have 50 lbs of paraffin I can't use! Maybe I should get into the candle-making business to help pay for my EDS * spam alert *! )
Oh yeah, almost forgot...the machine I got has a timer, which is great: I set it before going to work & when I get home the wax is ready to use! (takes about 90 minutes to melt). |

It's always the refills that get you in the long run. I guess I'll have to check out the price of the wax refills before making my purchase. Thanks for all the helpful tips kls.
I know what you mean about making extra income for the EDS * spam alert *. I add to my wish list almost every time I log onto the forum. It's becoming a very expensive lifestyle. |

As i recall, the machine comes with 4 lbs of wax, the minimum to get it running, I like it a little fuller. I get the Dr. Scholl's refills at Walmart for about $10 a 2 lb box. HTH. |
