Well, I've ordered the Salux one. They're dirt cheap on ebay.
I hope it works. I have yet to really stick with an exfoliator since Bath and Body Works quit selling Mocha My Day Scrub (bastards!). If I can just use this in place of a wash cloth with my bodywash, I think I can stick with it. Of course, that's what I said about my scrubby gloves. But I don't think those exfoliated all that well, thus decreasing my motivation.
Here's hoping!

That's great, Ch79. I saw them on ebay for $1 plus about $1.50 s&h, which is a nice deal. I paid $5 at the Japanese grocery store, which was not bad.

I hope it works for you!

That's brilliant, Emma. It's always nice to know when someone likes something you've recommended.

In fact, recently a 23 year old friend and I were talking about exfoliation. She said she really loved a new scrub she'd discovered. I got her to compare elbow softness with me (I'm 40). She's now buying the Dermalogica Buffing Cloth instead of her formerly beloved scrub! Laughing

I recently got the dermalogica buffing cloth from EDS. I love it, just feels so good! But now, I see I'll be needing another one as DH prefers using this over his "scrunchy thingy". I think we both deserve our own...but I think it only comes in one color, and I don't intend on sharing. Not talking

Laughing So what you're telling me is that really I have to buy another one of these (i.e. the Dermalogica one)... I'm sure that will happen at some stage too Rolling Eyes

Can I just say that shortly after I wrote the above in response to Majorb, I did indeed cave and buy the Dermalogica version. I just didn't want to admit to it Anxious This cloth is FAB-U-LOUS! It is significantly rougher than the japanese version I got but not uncomfortably so - it's just very invigorating. I wouldn't want to use it on my body dry though - ouchy! Thank you for persuading me to spend yet more money Majorb Wink

debbied - Don't blame you! Blummin' men, coming and stealing our beauty stuff! Shock Laughing

Mabsy - I thought, from the description you gave of the Japanese cloth, that it probably wasn't exactly the same kind of thing. I've just never known an exfoliator as effective as the Dermalogica one, and it's really good to be able to recommend something that I honestly think would be very, very difficult to beat.

As for helping you to spend more money, it's my pleasure. Always nice to return the favour when you lot keep making me spend my own! Laughing

BTW I recently bought one of your recs - the MD Formulations Body & Face Glycolic Scrub, in an effort to get rid of those annoying ingrown hair scars on my legs. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

The fact that it had hello kitty pictures on it probably should have tipped me off.... Laughing I'm supremely happy with the Dermalogica one. Thank you!

Hello Kitty pictures! But Mabsy, that makes it far better than any stinky old Dermalogica cloth! Laughing

cuppre - It's actually quite a good price, I think, and even better value because it means you don't have to buy all those scrubs and exfoliants you needed before getting the cloth. Trust me on this! Very Happy

Was thinking about your problems with ingrown hairs on your legs - me so knows what it's like! Have had actual BOILS on my legs from ingrowns...not a delightful sight or experience, and then the scars on top of that - and the overall PAIN! AAAAAGGGHHH won't go down that chain of thoughts.

What I wanted to share with you was what I've done to prevent these *bloody boils and ingrowns.

1. Don't wax legs more than 3-4 times a year!
2. Exfoliate legs before shaveing.
3. Preferably don't shave legs more often than a couple of times a week.
4. Useing Decleors Shaveing Foam for sensitive skin (mens line).
5. New blade each time
6. First shave in direction of hair, and then in opposite direction.
7. Rinse the blade ALL the time
8. moisturize with aromessence oil and after shave gel (also mens line)

Love the scents of the Decleor and especially how much they've helped my legs

My doctor actually said I should stop shaveing Shock she doesn't have to live with my hairy bear legs...

Regarding the fantastic Dermalogica cloth... isn't it a face cloth???? and does anyone have any experience with the cloth working wonders on cystic horrors on jaw and throat (grasping at straws)

I got hooked on this type of cloth years ago. 1st found them in a Japanese import store in DC. The Body Shop carries them:
Exfoliating Skin Towel $6
http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/product_detail.jsp?productId=prod150035&categoryId=cat30010

I've also seen them in some drug stores for even cheaper. Most of the time my local Rite Aide has them. I got one for my boyfriend as he definitely needs to exfoliate Bad Grin

Just wait. In a short while, you'll be going up to complete strangers and asking them to feel how smooth your elbows are. (I have actually done this. Embarassed Laughing )

I picked one of these up at a Japanese grocery store today. Mine is 11" x 35" and made of 60% nylon and 40% polyester. The brand name is Salux Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) and the bag says "invention prize awarded in Japan." It's called a "beauty skin cloth."

AnnieR wrote:

Annie, the directions on mine are all in English -- no Japanese in sight! There are also cute, colorful cartoon drawings for each step Smile

Here's what the directions for my SALUX cloth say:

Keep your body wet. Soap the wet SALUX cloth----watch the lather grow.

Keep SALUX away from the direct flow of water, otherwise soap suds on it will be washed away.

Ideal for cleaning the entire body.

Special texturizing stimulates skin and blood circulation.

After rubbing with SALUX, rinse thoroughly.
Fast drying---hygienic---durable

FYI, according to the bag, the company has patents for this in the US, UK, France, Canada, Italy, and Japan.

HTH! Have fun!

P.S. I just noticed that the cartoon drawings are of a blond girl with blue eyes! Laughing

I bought 6 of these from asianfoodgrocer.com--$2.95 each. I LOVE them! Talk about lather Shock I use an all natural bar soap with saponified oils and no added glycerine. My skin is fast becoming like a baby's butt Very Happy I've found myself feeling it's softness, also-- Embarassed And the invigorating, tingling feeling is incredible! I just rinse mine well under the shower head and hang to dry--simple! Just like the other poster, I wanted to stay in the shower and continue scrubbing--it feels so great--especially on my feet Embarassed Laughing

I may cut one up to use on my stainless and non-stick pans Laughing

I'm giving these as gifts to all my girlfriends Smile Get the Salux cloth!

i use it unfolded for my back and bottom you know how you have a big towel when you dry off you sort of have it wrapped around the back of you and do a little ''shimmy'' to dry off

thats how i use it for the back that way you get a great back and bottom exfoliation

and for the rest of me i use it just like a flannel/wash cloth
