I am a strawberry blonde with fair skin. I am 33 with no wrinkling that I can see so far but I am conscious of aging beginning for me soon. I have combination skin that has redness around my chin and nose. I find I get this way with some products and it bothers me because I don't know what causes it.
I tried MD Formulations sensitive and was pleased with it but am wondering if there is something else I should try.
Product recommendations would be great.

I have the same problem and have just ordered 3 new products to try and help:
Juice Beauty Redness Reducing Serum (I heard good things about this)
Yonka Phyto 54 - supposed to help with flushing from heat ( a big problem for me)
Dermalogica soothing spray (forget full name) - it is supposed to help skin that is reactive to weather and the environment (moi) so I got this for spritzing during the day at work.
Sorry I cannot give you feedback yet, but after a LOT of searching these 3 seemed to offer the best possibilities.
Sothy's used to make a "Clearness Serum" which I used and had success with but they have discontinued it... |

julliams I have very sensitive skin and I find that the area around my nose and eyes is the most sensitive and tends to get red and irritated if I use the wrong products (In my case there are too many wrong products to count!) Are you looking for products to reduce the redness, products that will not cause any redness or both?
tiger_tim I am looking forward to your reviews! Although as far as the Dermalogica spray goes I don't think I will wait for your review, I have had my eye on that for a while and will probably just go ahead and order it within a few days! |

I like Decleor Harmonie Gentle soothing cream. Over time, it has really helped to even out my complexion and diminish the redness. |

My two favourite lines are Dr Hauschka and Primavera. I find Primavera is excellent for sensitive maturing skin. (I'm 29 with sensitive skin and don't have any wrinkles either but prevention is the key). The ingredients are organic and of extremely high quality and you will find a noticeable improvement in your skin after just the first week of use. I highly recommend using Rosehip Oil as well as it is fantastic for sensitive skin. |

I also have some skin redness that is vanishing with my using Ice Elements. I particularly noticed reduced redness the morning after I used their blueberry mask...
The product line has a base of pharmaceutical grade aloe vera, which probably is a big part of what is soothing my skin.
The only thing in the product line that may be a bit harsh is the toner as it contains botanikals, however the improved cleanser has an ingredient that balances the ph of the skin so that a toner will not be necessary. |

I get irritated around my nose too, it gets red and flaky. To avoid it I stay away from harsh cleansers, aggressive oil controlling products like talc, silica and serecite, alcohol, essential oils that are highly fragranced, other added fragrance in cosmetics which are very often just chemicals, chemical sunscreen ingredients, over use of actives like vitamin c, alpha hydroxy acids and retinoids. Beta hydroxy in non-alcohol formulas I seem to be fine with, they actually calm my skin down although they can be drying if I over use them.
To calm irritated redness I use pure jojoba or squalane oil. There are other oils that work for some but make me break out or react like vitamin e, olive, almond, emu, etc. It takes some trial and error to find out what works for each individual. Also, a low concentration copper peptide serum can be soothing.
A lot of lotions sting my skin if it’s red and irritated I’m thinking it’s the parabens or possibly something else that’s used as a filler or emulsifier.
Right now I am red around the nose from three night of an strong rx retinoids, everything stings except the oils. I use them to cleanse with as well with a warm wash cloth. |
